Escape 19' vs 21' Decisions
Just wondering on the two sizes and why you might go with one over the other. The price is very close and the difference is only some $2000.

Having owned both models, each has its advantages. The 21 is more spacious and more storage as well as counter space. That said, it comes with a weight penalty over the 19, maybe 2-300 lbs. The batteries are outside on the 19, inside on the 21. Front dinette with opening windows on 2 sides on the 19, rear dinette with sides and rear opening windows if you get the frameless windows. Bigger refer and bath in 21, smaller bed. These are most of the differences.

You may find that members are tired of rehashing topics like this that have been beat to death. I would suggest a search of old threads. “Escape 19 vs 21” produces many results. Use “Search Site/Google” under Search on the top bar. See screenshot.

While the search suggested by Dave will give you tons of information and opinions, I'll give you our reasons for going with the 21' in a nutshell: extra width gives more interior openness, larger bathroom that is located right beside the bed, and the rear dinette provides better view from dinette while camping in parks. Since our tow vehicle is a full-sized pickup, we weren't concerned about the additional weight or being able to see around the extra width while towing, and we sleep in a full-sized bed at home, so we are perfectly fine with the bed size in the 21'.

The 21' is longer and wider than the 19', giving it more counter space and more interior room. Of course, the 19' (with permanent rear queen bed and front dinette) has a much better layout and is also lighter and more easily towed than the 21' (front bed and rear dinette).

There wasn’t enough difference between our 17 ft Casita SD and a 19 ft to make a change .
We went down the twofootitis road before and were not about to repeat the same mistake .
There is also not enough difference in cost between a 19ft and a 21ft for that to be a factor IMHO.

I guess that means, by difference, that my wife and I are very happy with the "much worse" layout of our 21', and our smiles while camping are simply there to hide our shame.

Uh, WE think the 21' has a "much better layout" than the 19' ( yes, this has been and will be, beaten to death...).
The deal breaker for all of the models EXCEPT the 21', is the "crawl over" bed situation on those "others". We had a crawl over bed for 10 years in our 17' Casita SD, which we learned to hate (yes, "hate"). The 21' is perfect for us ! We love it.
Think about having to crawl over your mate, or BE crawled over by your mate at 3:30 am...I'm just sayin'...
Get what you really want, regardless of the relatively minor price difference.

We had a 2012 Escape 19 and now have a 2017 Escape 21. We purchased the 21 primarily for the extra room in the hallway, kitchen counter top, storage, frig, etc. We found the 19 a bit small for 2week and longer trips especially if we needed to spend much time inside during bad weather.
What we discovered in this 1st year of using our 21 is just how nice the U-dinette in the rear is. Almost always the rear view is better than looking out at the back of our truck. Also - the bed design is great and we don’t have to crawl over. We are really happy with the 21. So far, 7 weeks of travel in 2018. One more vote for the layout of the 21.

Went to chilliwack intent on ordering the 19, but after seeing the extra space that the 21 had, it was a done deal. Loren

We went through this and went with the 21 and nor regrets on our decision at all. Couple of things about the price difference. The 21 comes with a larger fridge/freezer which we wanted anyway, so that took away part of the price differential. Also in the 21, the window in the kitchen comes standard, whereas its not in the 19. However that being said, there is no standard window in the front of the 21. One of the noticeable things about the 21, there is so much extra storage room, or so it seems. The aisle is also wider too and allows one person to go behind the other, less easily done than in the 19. Also allows for someone to get out to use the b/r, a climb over not being required.

After having a 19' for four years and now a 21', we concur with all of the reasons others have given for making the change -- more space, no crawling over each other in the middle of the night, etc. The only thing I can add is that, with our 19', it always seemed we (two people and two dogs) were vying for floor space all the time, especially in inclement weather. With the 21', we find we're not tripping over each and and, thus, camping has become even more pleasurable ... if that's possible.

I went from a 17B to a 21. Original plan was to go to a reversed 19 (I travel solo). The main reason for the change is I wanted an oven, built in microwave, and permanent bed, permanent 4 person dinette.
When I looked at all that in a 19, including the larger refrigerator, I lost too many drawers, and lower cabinets. I know others have done all this in a 19, so it can happen, but all that stuff fits better in the 21. I also got the additional cabinet over the drawer stack and found it useful.

See both 19' and 21'
Trainman, you need to see both trailers to decide what is important for you. Escape will help you arrange visits to owners of both trailers. That is what we did and also how we decided that the E21 better met our needs.

We have the 19 and it is a little tighter but we wanted the cot option for the kids. The full queen was a definite bonus and like that it’s in the back. At night, if we watch a movie on the laptop, all 4 of us pile on the bed. Also, such an easy tow.
The 21 has a definite larger feel but I hate that the storage door is on the drivers side and like that there’s a large accessible storage space under the bed.
Just thought I’d chime in and give the 19 some love.

We just went thru the 19 or 21 decision. We looked at the 21 first and then the 19. As soon as we went in the 19 (we loved both designes) we knew the 21 was for us. Just felt roomy with plenty of storage. I have gone thru the two foot jump on sailboats my entire life! 17, 21, 25, 27, 29, 33, and now we own a 36 foot Sabre sailboat. This is over 30+ years.....lesson learned.....we bought the 21.

the big thing on the 21 for us was that the bed wasn't crosswise, so either of us can get out. and, I like the rear diner...
