Escape 5 - height, width, length for storage rental

I need to rent a storage space for my Escape 5, as storage at our condo is not an option. So, I am looking for dimensions for Escape 5 with lift kit, and any advice on the storage rentals. Will look for covered parking...

I have the height at 9'4" (with lift kit and AC - to be added). But, not clear about the width and length. Is 10' wide x 25' long x 10' high what I should be looking for? Any additional advice would be appreciated.

10' height may be cutting things a bit close depending on options and whether the 10' height is just at the door or is a limiting ceiling/joist height once inside the door.

Note the heights listed by ETI are for a 'level trailer'; if planning on an Andersen hitch don't forget to allow for the 'ceiling height' required to jack the front enough to clear/unhitch the coupler from the ball as your truck is 'unloaded' from the trailer weight (i.e. the 'un-sagging' of the truck suspension + the ball-coupler clearance dimension .... you could be raising the front ~6"+/- for that operation inside the storage area).

Funny thing is that last year when I was crossing the border at Sault Michigan, we decided to use the tunnel crossing and the border guard asked us if we were over 10' height; I said no we are about 9'8" at tallest point and so he let us by and we went through the tunnel no issues. Now looking at your attachment I see that the TV antenna is actually 120" or 10' high - wow did not realize that till now! Good to know in the future - also now I know that if i have a shelter for the trailer the door into the shelter will have to have at least 10' full clearance.

In a recent exchange, I was informed by my ETI sales person that - "So with the body lift and the Coleman AC your trailer will be approx. 9’3 ½” at its highest point." The table in the link provided by Alan says the height of the AC is 9' 7" with an additional 2 5/8 inch for the body lift kit that we have. [We do not have TV antenna, so that is not a factor.] So, it is clear as mud

We are not getting the AC from ETI and will have an Houghton 9500 AC with height of 8 3/8" high. I am not sure about the exact Coleman model used by ETI.

So, I think we are still below 10'. But - we will look for storage space that allows a higher camper. It's a bit of a struggle. Places close by seem to be $200/month range - and tight fit at that! Farther out, it goes down to 80-90/month. So, we might need to store it an hour or more away, but even those places have availability issues. That's why we are beginning our search 4 months earlier...

I have found my salesperson to be impeccable in her accuracy and communication. So, have a high level of trust there.

I am not into razor thin margins and would simply have to look for an 11+ ft height in the storage rental...

Hi: kavm... I'd say 12' just to be on the safe side. It's always better to have more than you want rather than less!!! Alf

Indeed, I have an inquiry out to a place. They have 25 x 12 x 14 and 30 x 12 x 14. The catch is that they have a waiting list... If I can get it, the main question is whether to try for 25 ft length or 30 ft. The other options have narrower tolerances, and we might have to look into them if the bigger (but farther) option does not work.

I think I would just take first available if the location is convenient. 25 ft. would give you enough room although if I had a choice I'd rather have the 30 ft. Good luck in your search

I have a metal 18x25 carport. I've found out it's much, much easier to add to the length at a later date than it is to add to the height. Everyone I've contacted wants to take it down/apart to raise it, they're afraid it will twist when they try to raise it. My carport is 4 inches too short to park Ten Forward underneath. If I was you, and I'm not, I'd go 14'. That would give you room to work on top of the trailer while it's under the carport. A real plus.

You're actually adding an asset to your property. IF you sell in the future, that extra height may be exactly what a buy may need/want.

Indeed. Thanks! Still waiting to talk to some. Locally (15 miles radius), the listed costs are around $200/month! The reasonable prices (60-70/month) are about 60-70 miles away - and with wait list. If I can get availability, we will likely opt for the cheaper location. It is in our usual direction of camping trips in the Summer but not so much in the late Fall, Winter and spring.

Donna - We have to, unfortunately, rent parking. We live in a high rise condo that we love but all parking is underground - with 8' ceiling... So, storing near our home is not an option for us.

wow $2400 a year for storage . maybe look for a seasonal campsite. In my area there about 1500-2000 a year with full hook ups.. They camp all summer and have free winter storage. Of course there not covered.

I have searching. I knew that we'd need to pay to park it - but the rents are very high. It has partly to do with the local real estate market. I hope that I can get something below 100/month within the 60-70 miles radius.
