Escape windows, only one source for them?

Is it true the escape hehr awning windows are custom made for them by the manufacturer for the opening width tolerance, thus, the only place to get new replacements is from Escape plus shipping from Canada to US customers? I Saw a post mention this but cant find it. Thanks in advance.

I mentioned in another post that showed pictures of the new style window closing mechanism. No longer a knob but a lever that you turn. I called Escape and inquired about switching out the knob and was told that Hehr was bought out by Lippert who now makes the windows. Dustin was not sure the lever would work as these are relatively new for 2020 model.

I was wondering about the 2017, 2018 and 2019 and before trailers with the knob hehr awning thermal windows. I think it was in delamination thread an owner said you can only get them from escape because they are custom made only for escape. Anyone else remember that post? Thanks.

I purchased a replacement window for the door in my 2011 Escape 17B from Hehr, but had to give them the sticker info on the frame of the old window. Hehr said they custom make them for Escape.

Directly from Hehr, although that was in 2013. Since they have been purchased by Lippert, I don't know if they will still sell directly to a customer.

My 2019 E21 knob is round, with maybe 8 indents, they switched to a 3 knob round later in 2019 and the current 2020 is a oblong 2 knob. Your contact person should be able to provide pictures. There is really no say in the decision, there is only one manufacturer of the window now that Hehr was bought out by Lippert.

If you go the ETI website and look at pictures of their current available inventory units, I think their new 2020 window knobs look very much like this:

May not be the exact one, but looks very similar. -Bea

I wonder if this new know would cause one to over tighten vs the old style round knob? Any thoughts?

I went out and removed my round knob, the screw is smaller than the one shown at eTrailer. May not work in switching to the lever type. Besides the round knob has more surface area for the pipe insulation to grab and keep them closed. Not sure if the newer windows vibrate open sometimes.

I believe those are Lippert windows although I might be wrong. Can't check mine because it's at the RV Shop. Contact parts & service at Escape, with your VIN number, they should be able to give you the exact information regarding the manufacturer and part number. They may also be able to tell you a source for the replacement. Escape should be open tomorrow.

My 2018 Escape 19' was built in December 2017 and completed the first week of January. In June 2022 I test drove the trailer preparing for a trip. I later found one split double pane insulated window on the back of the trailer had shattered. Possibly a rock from my mower but maybe not, I recently read of another shattered insulated window. The window manufacturer, Hehr, was purchased by Lippert mid February 2018. They do not sell direct, ParKin Accessories, Elkhart, Ind. represent them and will order a custom build of the Hehr window. I was referred to them by Escape Industries as I was told the Lippert Window now used needs different blocking. (More later). I blocked and taped the damaged window and went fly fishing. July 1 I ordered and paid ParKin over U$2015.00 plus shipping. 5 weeks later the window arrived, shattered, I declined the UPS delivery. A second window was provided by Parkin, it arrived about 6 weeks later. It too was defective, it had single glazed glass in a double glazed frame with a 6mm air gap to let in dust and rain. I demanded a refund from ParKin after learning from Escape customer support the Lippert double glazed split window could be installed on my 2018 trailer - the opening is the same size, but requires a 3/8 additional blocking around the inside of the opening. The cost was just over Cdn$900.00 including shipping. ParKin responded to my demand for payment: they arranged that Lippert would produce and ship the correct window. The frame and window arrived November 8th in a wooden crate, the trucker used an electric lift to deliver it to my shop. This was the window only, I had to use the original compression ring and drill the window frame to complete the work. Local glass and RV shops were not prepared to do the work so it was a learning experience. Added a few more grey hairs, in the end UPS costs were absorbed by ParKin. Lippert covered shipping and import costs on the 3rd window.

My rear window got broken in June 2021. Reached out to ETI for part info and Dustin gave me a part number. Called Hehr and they sent me a picture and asked me if that was correct. It was in fact for a split frameless window. So if you get a number from ETI, make double sure it is correct. I got lucky because of the diligence of Ashley Coates at Lippert and her verifying with me by sending that depiction which showed the frameless vs. framed window.

Parkin is an RV parts seller and I first contacted them, yet their prices were pretty high. Lippert did sell me one; their rep's email address reads Duncan Sales, yet the rep sending it signs Lippert at the bottom below their name. it arrived with the weep holes on the side instead of the bottom- a 20 x 48; should have been a 48 x 20. For that window it probably didn't matter, yet it was a bit banged up and the rubber seal around the glass looked funky too.
Hehr is now owned by Lippert, however my understanding is that it is still a separate division. Lippert being so huge makes the wait time 6 weeks and if they mess up they don't put you at the front of the line for the replacement.
