Escapes wind up in the darndest places
Since camping is not an option right now, I was out riding my e-bike the other day and rolled past a vintage Escape 15 in an RV storage lot right next to Aurora's new 31,500 square foot "cannabis innovation centre."
When it opens, the company will use the greenhouse and research lab to breed cannabis plants for quicker maturity, maximum yields, and minimal losses to pests and disease--in short, to make the cultivation of recreational and medicinal cannabis more profitable. The building will not be open to the public, no production for sale will occur on the site, and no GMO techniques will be used.
One of the two principals is a local fellow who got a PhD in chemistry and did agricultural research for the federal government for years, then made a quick fortune in a cannabis testing business when it was first legalized in Canada.
The cannabis facility is situated between a Canadian Forces airbase and the Comox International Airport. Let the jokes about getting high begin!
