It is on the EMS and tells you it's status. It can be located in various places.

Thanks. Noted this post from Jon some time ago that is a good explanation:
"The RV industry seems to use the terms EMS & Surge Protector to often describe the same device, or a bunch of different devices. Technically, a surge protector only does one thing - it absorbs the energy of short over voltages (spikes or surges). They are often sold for homes in lightning prone areas, added to plugging strips, etc. They are rated in joules - poorly designed ones not capable of absorbing a useful amount of energy are often added to plugging strips and other devices as a sales tool.
True EMS devices usually have surge protection built into them (although sometimes not enough) as well as other functions. In larger RVs, some Energy Management Systems also detect whether the RV is plugged into a 50 amp or 30 amp pedestal, and can "shed" or disconnect loads to prevent overloading the pedestal breaker. The best of these allow the owner to choose the load shedding order, for example, if the microwave starts, the AC shuts off, or provides automatic switching between two air conditioners.
On top of all that, there are also "Autoformers", devices that automatically raise low campground voltage to prevent damage to air conditioners and other motor driven devices due to low voltages. Because they often have EMS functions as well as the voltage adjustment capability, they are also sometimes called surge protectors or EMS.
You really need to examine the specifications of the device to be sure it is going to do what you expect. Like Jim, I installed the built in version of the Progressive Industries EMS HW30 in my trailer - it has shut down the power to my trailer a couple of times for low voltage & once for reversed polarity."
And this one in the same thread from you Jim:

That is correct."
So, just to clarify, the Progressive Industries EMS is the 'surge protector' listed as an option in the build sheet?

I envy you.
PS -- after chatting back and forth with most of the 'regulars' here on the forum, I must say that you sir win the award for the "most obscure reference to a motion picture" nickname hands down! A little Zed for ya:

You guys are completely ignoring Charolette Rampling's contribution to this masterpiece. SHE was the star!

You're right. I've always liked her. Ok, so that she gets full credit:

Okay, back to favorite things on your Escape.... I am all for beer and can get Natty Boh anytime but I am trying to outfit Bailey with all the best tricks.. Where does one get those nifty cleats? We were thinking that we could put one under the dinette cushion and a hook under the table to stabilize it when under tow. I am not inclined to take the table down each time we tow, when we really want it up for use all the time.

So today I bought a clicker torque wrench, a mattress pad (which necessitated a major wrestling match in the trailer) and a 22 inch samsung LED tv that I thought was DC compatible - but now I think I need an inverter to plug it into.... Is this correct? I plug an inverter into the 12v outlet, then the tv plug which has a built in inverter that takes the inverted 12v to 110 back to 12 or 14v I can't go straight from 12v outlet to the tv?

Which model of Samsung LED tv ? It may be but you may need a different adapter . Look where the power goes in it should show a symbol and a voltage in.
