Forty five days…...

and we will be off on a bucket list journey through 11 states and 3000 miles to arrive at the Escape Rally in Osoyoos. Has anyone driven Beartooth Highway while towing an Escape? Just wondering since we will be so close.
I was going to bring some Yuengling Beer, is there a limit thru customs?

From Alcoholic beverages in Visitors to Canada and other Temporary Residents from the Canada Border Services Agency:
Quote:
If you meet the minimum age requirements of the province or territory where you enter Canada, you can include limited quantities of alcoholic beverages in your personal entitlement. Minimum ages for the importation of alcoholic beverages, as prescribed by provincial or territorial authorities, are as follows: 18 years for Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec; and 19 years for the remaining provinces and territories.

You are allowed to import only one of the following amounts of alcoholic beverages free of duty and taxes:
  • 1.5 litres (53 imperial ounces) of wine; or
  • a total of 1.14 litres (40 ounces) of alcoholic beverages; or
  • up to 8.5 litres of beer or ale.
That's about two dozen typical beer bottles.

I believe that you can bring more (if, for instance, you wanted to bring some wine or liquor as well as beer), but you would be required to pay duty and taxes on it.

I believe that is a 'per person' limitation. We made a trip up to B.C. a few years ago and didn't even think about a limitation. We bought 5 bottles of wine while waiting for the ferry from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, B.C. Oops! We were not charged, but I think it was because we were up-front with the Customs agent and had the sales slip handy.

Jim,

Can't help based on personal experience but you might try beartoothhighway.com. Note, too, that TrailerLife magazine has an article on the Beartooth in the May edition. It doesn't address towing limitation nut may have useful info for you. FWIW.

We've driven the Beartooth Highway in our car and it was a memorable drive. I would not attempt it towing a trailer but I suppose you could if you wanted a challenge and your TV had the power to make the climb. The photos below were taken in July.

The article in TrailerLife has really good info. We just received ours in the mail today and I had seen your post this morning. It has campgrounds listed as well as very interesting history. It should be a beautiful trip.

We're looking at driving down the Beartooth in July this summer (west to east). I, too, would appreciate any first-hand information...
