Front window guard very hard to open

I guess there is a rubber seal around the edge that has gotten stiff. It is difficult to open the guard or close it completely. My wife said the front wall was flexing as I pulled it open. Is this normal? Is there a way to improve this? I'm afraid something is going to break. Thanks.

One screw, on the passenger side in my ‘21 E19 adjusts the top rod in the upper track to keep the guard centered and opening and closing smoothly. If it slips left or right a little it can be hard to get closed. Loosen the screw, center the guard carefully, and tighten the screw. This may not be your issue, but it helped me.

I'll look, but mine seems to be tight along the bottom edge.

IIRC somewhere I read advice not to open it using the latches. Undo the latches and then open by putting your fingers under the lower edge and lifting. You can put 303 protector on the rubber gasket...spray on a rag and apply.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with the idea to avoid pulling on the latches. I use my fingers to pry it open. Is this common or is mine tighter than normal? If this is caused by hard rubber can that be fixed? Thanks again.

Ours is also very stiff. We have a flat (Brazilian ipe) stick we use to help with the prying. Will also check that top screw, centering tip. Thanks.

Try the 303 (or maybe armorall?) to lubricate the gasket and see if that helps.
