High lift axle and Refrig question
I had the high lift axle, I think thats what they called it, on my casita, do they offer this escape? I know I could call but i am about 8 months from ordering and I am going through my list that wrote for my next trailer. Also, the refrig would not stay on when driving as I could never get the gas to light. I think it was in large part my stupidty but is hassle to keep the fridge running? Can t imagine it is as I people do it all the time.

We have the 5' fridge and have only had it blow out once while traveling running on propane.

I think there is a "high lift" axle that adds 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Might just give Escape a call and ask. I know I've seen it on the forum threads; try a search.

Kevin - it might also depend on how the trailer's inlet and outlet for the refridge is designed.

The high lift axle is available on the 15 and the 17 for $105 CAD.

My 5 cu ft refrigerator in my 17B would not work on propane while driving until I added baffles, a furnace filter to the lower door, and insulated the sides & sealed the back side of the refrigerator. After all that, it has been fine. I followed the venting instructions in this Dometic PDF.

And, my 5 cu. ft. fridge works just fine on propane while traveling with my 17B. Of course, I would never travel with propane on, or maybe just once in a while.
Anyway, I've not had a problem keeping it lit.

Does anyone know if all of the 19's have a high lift axle as standard? Thought that was the case.

We originally had a high lift kit installed in our 2010 5.0 when we had the F350. It raised the trailer 1.5". When we got a new truck (lowered F150) we had the kit removed. Makes it a lot easier to get in and out of the trailer. No secondary step needed, although a double entry step is available. I can't see why a lift couldn't be put in any trailer.

I assume that means it is a spacer, bolted to the mounting plates which are welded to the frame, and with the axle assembly bolted to the spacer. I agree, this is applicable to any model with a Torflex (that is, any Escape other than the 5.0TA).
I haven't seen this on an Escape - none of the units I've seen had any spacer between the Torflex axle and the frame... but they have all been at a dealer (long ago) or the factory (demonstrators), and all were probably stock (no high-lift option).
