To all in the Great White North-A belated but sincere Happy Canada Day!

To all in the United States-Happy 4th of July!

Yes, I'm late for one and early for the other. All of you stay safe. Now I'll go out and sit in the Escape for a couple of minutes.

Thanks and enjoy the 4th the best you can.

Our flag was flying high on the 1st, despite the rain.

Can't resist pointing out that even though there was heavy rain the manual awning is still out and draining the water off just fine.

Ron

Ron. You look to be dialed! I couldn’t help but notice the hooks on the out side of your trailer. What brand are they. We could use some rainwear hooks too!

Yup Jim
That was a toad blinker. That sound of the water coming off the corner of the awning reminded me of a tall cow peeing off a flat rock.

We have two kinds, both work well. My wife says Loonie Store or Walmart. Very handy, don't need to bring wet coats inside.

Err, not sure you meant it that way but the saying is "like a cow peeing on a flat rock".

While Iowa cannot claim the foundation bull “Monkey” of the Santa Gertrudis breed on the King Ranch in Texas. It is a fact that in later years old Monkey busted out, headed up I 35 and was finally captured just south of Des Moines , Iowa. When asked where he was going he said he was headed to the Iowa State Fair to see if he could get a date with the famous Guernsey Butter Cow. Seems she was better looking than any heifer in Texas. She had a hard to describe creamy skin but was said to be frigid.

I guess I’m lucky! I get to celebrate both since I share my birthday with Canada (my mother, though born in the US was a Canadian citizen so she may have planned it that way). However, due to the current situation, I’m not doing much to celebrate the 4th of July. I found it somewhat ironic when I was in Eastport, Maine, on the 4th in 2018. They had a typical, small town parade with fire engines and police cars with lights blazing and sirens blaring. But the Shriners and the bag pipers as well as a number of participants were from New Brunswick. From what I observed, I would guess that there were more Canadians in the parade than US citizens.

Actually, 90% of the seasonals at the campground where we were staying were from New Brunswick. And on my birthday they were partying hearty and those with golf carts had them draped with the Maple Leaf.

Rejoice

Here is to wishing everyone a happy holiday season, Canada Day 4th of July and any Birthdays and Anniversaries that may coincide with these days. Our tip of the envious hat to all our Canadian friends, wish we were all as smart and concerned as you seem to collectively be. Keep up the good work and keep Canada Great.
Be smart, be safe, be well!

We haven't quite escaped the fireworks but are at my sister's where they are far fewer (so far none this morning). I"m camped at her rural home east of Snoqualmie, enjoying moderate temperatures and sun. Makes social-distancing easier to have the trailer and the dogs feel more secure when the fireworks inevitably do go off.

I have to say this for short trips not too far from home- it is really nice to get away and do something DIFFERENT for the first time in months. (Well, late June was the first, this is the second time.) If you can go camping near home, take everything you need, be ready to clean up if you stop for gas (hand cleaner, wipes) it seems pretty safe to me and sure is worth it. First trip was to a popular campground and there was no need for interaction with other campers or campground staff.

We went to sleep at 2:00 AM to the lullaby of fireworks and woke up at 7:00 AM to the sound of bottle rockets and firecrackers
We live on a lake so the weekend people are here , luckily they will be gone tomorrow around noon
I could get irritated but it just seems a low priority considering the current state of affairs

I hope you all enjoy your weekend, wherever you're at. I'm home, and the young'uns are all coming over for a birthday celebration.
