I used to have a 1980 VW Scirocco but it was too small for some of the camping I wanted to do, so I bought a used 77 Malibu wagon, complete with genuine artificial wood grain sides. A great car but sold it to buy an engagement ring for my wife. The Malibu would be long gone by now, but the wife and the ring remain

It's a pretty equal split between developed state park (and a few National Park) reserved campgrounds and boondocking in the national forests and BLM land. I try to pick a general area for boondocking that has multiple choices so we have always been able to find a spot if our original idea was already taken or inaccessible. It's made for some "interesting" driving getting the trailer situated, but the result is always well worth it.

In retrospect we should not have ordered it with the A/C because we've only used it once in almost 5 years. That's how few times we've had even electric hookups available.
