Why avoid Interstate 5? Traffic density, weather, mountain passes, twisty? This is the way we'd be heading after leaving Chilliwack.

We went thru Seattle without a trailer on I5 from I90 and it was a little hectic in the Seattle area. They have some strange merge areas and procedures (traffic lights over lanes). So once we left Chilliwack hooked up I decided to take US#2 east from Everett,Wa which parallels I90 and once we hit Coulee City it was the familiar route from Osoyoos going east to Spokane and then I90. Leavenworth is a really cute little town, a Bavarian village decorated for Christmas and the whole Wenatchee area is very nice. It was a less stressful different return trip than it was going out, that is what I'm trying to say.

I-5 is fine except: Seattle. Every time we have come through there, we have encountered nightmare traffic. It appears to be a common occurrance, as a lot of folks have posted on this forum concerning it.
When we picked up our Escape, we camped at BayView SP (WA-2 @ east shore of Puget Sound.) Then, we took the ferry to Port Townsend and the Olympic Peninsula (beautiful, by the way). That took us around Seattle.
