Tester shows that 12V on my RAV4 is live without key in ignition. Easy to just unplug.

That was a custom aftermarket installation - not Toyota factory equipment or a Toyota accessory. I guess you didn't specify a relay or other isolator, and so didn't get one; others with the same model of vehicle might have an isolator. I did my own, and put in a relay, so I don't need to remember to unplug (or flip a switch). Whatever works for you...

Yup. I just had all rewired and replaced at the back. They did ask if I wanted the back-up lights. I passed. I'm done driving by 3pm, if I can help it.

If I put anything down like stabilizers or the jack I usually hang something off my steering wheel to remind me put them up before I drive away. I'm not always the sharpest first thing in the morning and if I've been listening to trucks all night I might be cognitively impaired

What is the need for the stabilisers and jack? They are nice, but not necessary. I haven't used them doing a stop over, and doubt I would in the future. I like to make a coffee in a go cup, wait for my bride to rouse, then hit the road.

I don't remember if I've ever used the stabilizers on a quick stop but I have used the jack to level it out a bit. ...and my bride likes a little more than coffee to start her day. You've got it way too easy. If I wanted a fast start to the day I'd have to make her sleep in the truck

I have a 2014 Ford that is hot when the key is off. So all I do, is pull in the parking lot, unhook the trailer plug and sleep.

At least for the 17, you don't need stabilizers to have a good sleep. Since we use a cordless drill to lower and raise the stabilizers, and we left the Osoyoos Escape rally early in the morning, we raised the stabilizers the night before, along with hitching up, so we could leave in "stealth mode" early. (Crossed the border at 7:01 A.M.!)

Then you might want to use stabilizers too.

More than stabilizers I like to use the wheel chocks. My 19 did not rock but with the 21 I find I get a bit sea sick. Especially if staying awake in the early evening and some else is moving around inside. They are bright yellow so it does look more like I'm camping than parking.

I'm surprised! My 2014 F150 Ecoboost is cold when the key is off. I never have to unplug. I just go to sleep.

This has been really helpful to read all these posts. Fudge brown, I especially appreciate you mentioning the possibility of motion sickness, something I am prone to, in the 21 unless it is stabilized either with chocks or the stabilizers. Thanks all so much!

I often don't put down stabilizers for one night, but usually do put the jack down a bit to take pressure off the car's suspension.

I leave the trailer connected but use these to lock the wheels and keep the trailer from moving. My sponsor that helped me get through purchasing the trailer told me about them and I still bless him for the suggestion.

They take seconds to install / take down and really lock down any sway in the trailer due to us moving around. Just place between the two wheels, step on the middle, and it's done. Removing them is done by pulling the cable and out it goes.

I have forgot to pull them before moving out in the morning before but the truck tires just spin rather than the trailer moving.

For overnight stops I unhook the WDH bars but otherwise stay hitched. I jack up the tongue somewhat to take the weight off the tow vehicle. And I actually like sleeping without the stabilizers down. Feels a little like sleeping on a waterbed.

Keep in mind (depending on your tow vehicle/trailer combo) that leaving it hitched all night may be too unlevel for the refrigerator to run properly. You can of course adjust some without unhitching...but it would be a shame to wake up and find your normally 38F fridge reading 50F.

According to instructions, if it were that unlevel, you would be very uncomfortable. The fridge does not have to be absolutely level.

i'm curious, why do you remove the weight distribution bars?

What Glenn says may be correct, but I am somewhat of a sticker for being level. Not unhitching is the key to “less work” and a quick departure. On a quick overnight stop, I will use the Lego pads or the Andersen levelers either on the trailer or the tow vehicle to get the trailer as level as possible. Easy to retrieve in the morning. And I disconnect the umbilical. Then I place a placard on the driver’s seat (that was printed with a computer and slid into a document protector) that states “Connect Umbilical Cord/Check Lights” to remind me in the morning.
