How to fix stupidity......

Maybe it is my age or my failing eyes but I performed several stupid activities this week. I have a nice rechargeable flashlight which I found going through old camper "stuff" and it still works. It is a rechargeable unit with bright/dim.flash modes. It has a built in port covered by rubber grommet for charging. But where is the charger. I removed one side and tried every loose 12v adapter I could find, and I have maybe 2 dozen accumulated over the years, all in one plastic coffee can. Not one would slide into the hole. Went back to Amazon and ordered a universal multi-attachment charging station- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and that did not work. packed it up and returned it. finally went to the manufacturer website and ordered both the 120 and 12v charger adapters, they will arrive here next week, cost maybe $15 w/shipping.
Anyway, I went to put the light away and the rubber grommet came off, I looked inside and there was the charge pin. I was trying to insert the charger in the wrong hole (50/50 chance as there are only 2 holes) went back to my coffee can and whoop, there it is!! So now I will have duplicates, that the story of my life, I can not find something, order a replacement, and find the correct one before the replacement arrives....can not fix stupid!

I have similar experiences and attribute it to early-onset dementia but in my case, it is not really early onset.

First thing I do when I get a new device is label the charger and any cords. Which reminds me, kids gave me a new label maker a couple years ago. I really should label it.

The other day I decided I was tired of trying to dig out a phone from the cargo pocket in shorts, and sorted through my vast collection & made separate piles of those that had phone pockets & those that didn't.

I then mistakenly tossed the pile with the pockets, including a very hard to find pair that had TWO phone pockets - When on the road I carry both a Verizon & AT&T phone.

I have a problem loaning stuff to my kids and then forgetting they have it. Then I waste time looking for it and give up. Then the kids innocently bring it back and I can’t admit I forgot or wasted time looking. It’s part of the negative of being a hoarder and having too much stuff.

I was cleaning the kitchen and found a missing baggie of cayenne pepper. So later I was making crab mac and cheese and for the life of me could not find that baggie of cayenne. Ended up using something else. The next day we were out in the crab boat and guess what? The cayenne pepper was in the crab boat. So I wasn't crazy that it wasn't in the kitchen, but how the heck did it get into the boat?? (Which is not even kept near the house.)

If someone gave me something that size a couple of years ago I'd first have to find where I put it.

Yes, labeling is good, I'm lazy and just put everything in a coffee can. We have too many toys when we have to start inventoring them......

For me it's scissors: I have pairs of scissors everywhere and apparently I need to buy more, because I still can't find them. As for tape measures, I have one on my Toyota's keychain. So far I haven't lost my keys-- they are too important so I keep track of them carefully.
