"Howie" is in our yard!!!

Well, we went and picked up our trailer this morning. (and froze---oh my was it ever cold and darn wet getting stuff all done)

We see now that the trailer pad isn't as level as we thought it was. So more earth moving will be done one day. Having the levels on the back and sides of the trailer are great.

Of course we were wondering when our neighbour would be by to take a look. He has a 13" Bigfoot. Well, he was on his way home from work when had just finsihed unhooking.....so he got the first tour. And his name really is "Howie" so I guess that is pretty symbolic eh?
Also gave him a pamphlet and are trying to talk him into buying a bigger trailer!!!!

Oh yes, stoped by my sisters in Chilliwack before we made the drive home. She was very impressed. they have a hybrid trailer (also have 4 kids, so a smaller trailer wasn't an option) but she was VERY impressed with all the storage and the whole unit.. Trying to pin down a time when we can go camping with them...

Met Ron and his wife out browsing around.... Wonder what they'll end up doing...

Saw the 13' and partially built 19'---looks pretty good. Will look really good when they are all finished.. Hmm we may run out to the RV show Friday night as I am working all next weekend..... Get to see the totally finished units... Busy, busy shop...I didn't take any pictures.. Only took a couple of our vehicle hooked up to the trailer and I am not that pleased with them. It'll be better when the sun is shining....

I am ready to start packing it all up--but will wait till the weather is a little better....

Anyhow, step one is complete and it is home!!!!

Glen--we are sleeping in the house!! LOL Hey, do you find the joins in the cushions an issue? I think I may go get a piece of topper from the "Foam Shop" just to make it all even.. I really am "the princess and the pea type person!!!"

Not going to load it up or anything for a few days..Well, maybe start tomorrow if I know me!!!!!!!

Just reading all the manuals and getting up to snuff on stuff.

Re: "Howie" is in our yard!!!

The cushions are packed real tight when made up as a bed. No separation at all. Maybe in many years it might be a minor issue and one of those cheap waffle "mattresses" would probably take care of that. So far, we've used a double sleeping bag for bedding ( two singles zipped together ) and maybe another on top, depending on the temp. So, we have a layer between us and the cushions. Advantage of sleeping bags is you can zip a 2 lb. bag and a 3 lb. bag together and if it's warm, have the 2 lb. on top and if cold, the 3 lb.

It's not bed-in-a-bag, the bag is the bed.

The Litter Bag ( Kelsey ) got me a duvet for Xmas, so we'll be using that in future.

First though we'll have to test it. Sister and brother-in-law are staying over next weekend and they'll be put up in the Toad ( or put out, not sure which ).

Not allowed to used the toilet, no water, but they can listen to Sirius satellite radio and I will turn the heat on.

We'll all be headed to the Humdinger RV show in Chilliwack on Saturday.

Re: "Howie" is in our yard!!!

Hi: All... We need a photog. report from the show!!! We use a "Waffle Topper" from Zellers on our 6" mattress on the bed at home. Really softens the landing when you hit the sack so to speak. Not getting much sleep here. Torrential rains last weekend and spring thaw are giving us a free indoor pool. We have to pull the plug every 3-5 hrs. OOPS Gotta run stop the pump!!!

Re: "Howie" is in our yard!!!

We did weigh the trailer coming home yesterday and it did weigh a little more than we expected. Axle weight was close to 2,100 lbs. We didn't do the tongue weight properly because it was raining too hard to disconnect. Just jumped out to weigh the vehicle on its own with the trailer hooked up..
We did weigh the equalizer hitch at home on the bathroom scale and the hitch and the bars weighed just a smidge over 65 lbs....So will weigh the vehicle when I go out tonight because we have the new hitch put on since we weighed it originally...

Then of course we'll do the weigh once I have loaded all our treasures in it.. Be nice to have all the numbers and know that we are "legit"....

Re: "Howie" is in our yard!!!

Keep in mind, when you are hooked up, the EQ hitch is distributing weight onto the front axle of the tow vehicle and the trailer axle. A more accurate method would be to drag it over the scale without the EQ hooked up. Weigh the front axle, rear axle, then the trailer axle. Unhook and weigh the TV one axle at a time. You will need to add the two axles together in both situations and find the difference (loaded to unloaded). The trailer axle weight should be accurate on its own. Hope this helps but do it on a sunny day!!

Clothes and food are all fine Anna-Marie, but what about beer and wine?

Jeff, you have a day job, right?

Speaking of, has anybody found room for a beer fridge? Would I have to mount a pair of them on the rear to keep the trailer balanced?
