Hymer NA Fires 800

Even in these RV Go Go days there can be big problems. Hope this works out for those owners still under warranty.

Hymer North America started as Roadtrek, the Class B motorhome manufacturer, and added a version of Hymer's European travel trailer, plus some smaller operations with Jeep accessories. The Class B owners will still have chassis warranties, and all RV owners will have component warranties from the component manufacturers. For coverage of the work done by Hymer NA, my guess is that they're out of luck.

I suspected that this was going to be the result when the Hymer North America websites didn't even acknowledge the Thor acquisition of Erwin Hymer Group without Hymer NA, and the resulting orphaning of Hymer NA; they didn't reorganize, they quit. Those sites are now down.

It's unfortunate that mismanagement (and allegedly outright fraud) appears to have killed Roadtrek, but someone might buy the name and some tooling out of bankruptcy and revive the Class B operation (with Roadtrek models only, not Hymer). My guess is that the travel trailer venture is dead, unless someone wants to buy the moulds and make a trailer with a new brand name.

I really liked may aspects of the trailer including that it might fit into a garage. Some people don’t have a spot beside the house and in some areas with restrictions you can’t park a trailer in the driveway. I would take the wheels off and slide it in on a dolly if I had to.

Since the trailer part of the company is fibreglass and the “silent partner” is involved with Escape and Bigfoot...maybe he will take that part on. Everything should be there except for good management.

You need to expand. ?? I know that ETI recently sold a majority share of the company to a fund and that Northern Lite was bought by the same fund, but I've heard nothing about Bigfoot being involved.

Sorry my mistake, Northern Lite is what I was thinking about...not Bigfoot.

Escape now has a strategic partner in KVP, not a silent partner at all. KVP has invested in good companies that fit well, not mismanaged failures, so I doubt they would be interested in the remains of Hymer NA.
