If I were going to have a camper shed built

E21C Rig is 9'3" tall w hi-lift, , 7'4" wide and trailer tongue to Tire cover is 21'4". How tall an opening should I have built for the camper to fit easily...roof only, no side walls at first.

Probably 10 foot, but you have local permits that may impact your decision?

I'd go at least 12 feet tall. That would give you some space to work on the top of the trailer, while it's under cover.

Think about washing & waxing, too. Mine is 14 ft tall, walls 8 ft wider to allow for a rolling scaffold along both sides. Extra 6 ft in back for storage of stuff, some in cabinets.

We have a tent like structure from RINO coverings. 12 ft high, 12 ft wide and 20 ft long for our Escape 19. Fits like a glove. We have the high lift axle and tallest point is 10' 6" (Slightly less than 6"). The fabric ends roll up to 10'6" , and it takes my breath away to see how close the A.C. comes to the top of the door. We can open the trailer door, move around along side the trailer. There is no room front and back.

You can get by with 10 ft high doors and side walls if you go with scissor trusses. That will get you more space in the middle of the ceiling which is where the taller objects on top of the camper are.

Depending on how much area you have to build, have one built with plenty of room so one can work on the trailer and have room to store all your camping supplies when not using trailer. We build a 24 x 24 building with a 12 ft high entrance. Half for trailer n half for workshop.

When we built our little shed in 2014 , we went with a 24 by 30 building with 12 foot sidewalls, Overhead door is ten feet high by 18 feet wide. Service door is 3’0 by 7’0”. No windows two foot overhang soffit vented with bird screen on the inside. I sealed the floor to wall gaps with copper mesh and foam, capped with a ripped treated lumber strip. We have my 16’ boat in the building across the back, the Escape 21 and currently my 40 Hp compact utility tractor (New Holland TC40 D). In addition, off season lawn furniture, 2 tillers, lawn cart, pressure washer, lawn sweeper, fertilizer spreader, de thatcher and some shelves for trailer components. Dead flat smooth concrete floor, 20 amp service to outlets and a dedicated 30 amp RV plug fed by my auxiliary 150 Amp panel in the adjacent shop building. Contrary to what some folks say, I would not go bigger if I were to do it again and I would not go smaller. I measured twice and built once. It’s a Lester brand building. Adequate room below the trusses for waxing, sealing, inspection etc. One of the best investments we have made in the past 50 years. There are no pockets in a casket.

We are looking at that type cover..the price of bldg materials is outta sight! At HD today a 12' 6x6 was $71.00 each, w other stuff accordingly way up..wowzer!!

I heard yesterday, by a knowledgeable home inspector and contractor that building materials are expected to drop in price in 4-6 months to more normal values. High prices due to supply disruptions, due to Covid.....supply & demand at work, and some price gouging, also as usual.

I sure hope so. I have some repairs I need to do on a very large deck. At today's prices, I'd have to take out a second mortgage.

I had a Carolina Carport installed for my E19. Went 10 foot eave height. If I did it again, I would go 9 foot instead, as the center is much higher where you need the clearance (tallest part is the roof AC). I went with a 16 wide by 25 foot carport, due to the angle I have to enter the carport. A vertical roof model.

Carolina Carport has locations all over the eastern to midwest USA. I got half height side walls, highly recommend. The panels are 3 feet wide. So when they arrived, rather than having 5 foot side walls, I got 6 foot sides. Below that, I added translucent 3 foot panels, so I am within a foot of the ground. Helps keep the weather out.

Now if you plan to eventually have end walls, I'd go with a 10 foot eave height minimum, maybe higher. Its all about adequate clearance for a main roll up door. Where I live, carports are treated differently than garages. Once you add end walls to a carport, they call it a garage.....
