Don, you must be way more tolerant than me. "First bad day?" I used to say "X more weeks or 30 bad seconds!" :LOL

I had prepared numerous spreadsheets with various date calculations of what my retirement would be at such and such date. When it reached a point where my pension would increase another $24/month if I worked another month, I said "I'm out of here".
Also I was bankrolling so much into my 401 and TSP and pension that my take home pay actually increased after retiring....go for it.

Hi: paulw... WAY to go!!!
Just celebrated my first ann. retired. Scraped up enough money to take my wife out to dinner. The owner brought the bottle and glasses to the table for free after dinner drinks. Alf

May 15, 2015 is the date. Not sure how much I will accomplish between now and then, because everyone at work wants to hear about my plans for the future. It's a blessing to be able to do it.

I retired last year on April 25th. On April 26th, my wife & I headed up to Chilliwack to pick up our 19' Escape. We took 10 weeks for the trip and had a blast! Very thankful to be able to retire "early" and enjoy the Escape!

One of the best things about retirement is that we do half as much in twice the amount of time. Hmmmm shud have done that in the work place.
I must admit though, that we really do miss the LONG WEEKENDS..

Isn't retirement great! I struggled with the thought, and actually worked (1) extra year because I wasn't sure I was ready. Now that I've been retired for a year, I have absolutely no regrets...

Mike,
So I'm guessing that you made it home with the new 5.0 TA. Any comments to make regarding the trip, the route, the weather, where you stopped? Were we on the forum out-of-bounds with our suggestions and comments? Maybe a new thread on your thoughts?

The problem with retirement is you no longer get to take the holidays off from work.....

I'm still one of those salary-five-days-a-week-folks. My boss would prefer I never went home. We just went through the holiday season with lots of paid days off. Now, we're back to the five-days-a-week grind. I have tons of vacation time. I don't believe in making New Year's Resolutions.. just set myself up for failure. But, I have an paid-for asset that seems to just be sitting... new decision... taking a long weekend EVERY SINGLE MONTH and going camping. Don't know where.. doesn't have to be far to have fun. Just need to GO!
