If you don’t foot flush....
...how do you flush? What’s the standard way to flush if you don’t get the foot flush?

You press a lever. Just like at home.

Ok I glanced at your response and I wasn’t reading your response I read your Signature quote
about the cheese and cracked up. Then I realized it wasn’t your response...lol. Thanks...! now I know they charge you to do it differently than I’ve done for almost 63 years.

RV shopping the past month I noticed all the RVs have this foot flush, but I wasn’t sure why and I never asked. But now I know. Which begs the question..if this is such a great idea than why don’t we have them at home?

It's only a great idea until you become a senior, with issues balancing on one foot and remembering why your other foot is suspended in air.

I must respectively disagree with Glenn. At home you stand straight up, reach over and move the lever. With an RV hand flush toilet, depending how tall you are, you bend over, put your face closer to the bowl and push the lever at the back of the bowl.
I've had both types and I'd never go back to the lever type. Strangely enough I used the same argument as Glenn to not to have a foot flush in my first Escape. I was wrong.

Close lid. I use my left hand to pull the lever. Face is not over the bowl at all, it's closer to looking over my right shoulder.

That’s really kind of funny....or just sad and pathetic. I can’t decide.

Current advice for home toilets is to close the lid and then flush so you don't create an aerosol.
With my RV toilet, I have to begin the flush by adding enough water to do the job.
If nothing else, I can answer my doctor accurately when he asks me how my bowels are.

I got the foot flush cause on my last trailer the toilet was not raised like the Escapes is, meaning I had to bend over a lot more as RV toilets are kind of short to begin with. For me it was always an awkward move. With the Escapes raised toilet I do not think it is much of an issue. Either way works just fine, which you get is just personal preference.

I always had a better feel in my hands than my feet re; pressure. I would be afraid that I would exert too much pressure on the foot lever or lose my balance and break it off. With the hand lever, just shut the lid and pull to flush.

And I have read many complaints of the foot lever breaking, but none of the hand levers doing so. I am in agreement with Donna and Glenn on this one.

Get real, people. You flush it WHILE you are sitting. If you are standing and you have the foot flush thing and you have senior-eyeitis like me you would rather not risk using a foot to flush because you could miss the lever or bust the thing.

I have the hand-flush toilet. I started thinking that the foot-flush model would make it easier to rinse out the black tank, as you could hold the valve open with the foot flush while cleaning the tank with a wand. But then I read that the foot-flush toilet valve linkage can break, so now I guess I'll stick with what I have.

Mike: Just take a skinny cylindrical wipe container like Lysol wipes etc and jam it behind the handle to keep it open.

After seeing Glenn's black tank content checking photo and reading Donna's left hand lean over flush technique I'm getting some vivid toilet images fixed on my brain.
Like most trailer items that have divided opinions I have to say, until you've had both types, it's hard to know the pros and cons of each.
