I'm an Oregonian

I thought I'd share with y'all a reason you should travel to Oregon sometime. Put Oregon on your bucket list.

23 Things You Need To Know About Oregon Before You Move There - Movoto

If you’re going to live in Oregon, the first thing to know is that you don’t live in Oregon, you experience Oregon.

Donna,
With regards to #8, those of us here in Washington really appreciate you serving as a "buffer" for us.

On my cross country bike ride, Oregon and Vermont were my two favorite states. I think I spent close to two weeks in Oregon, and by the time I left, I had learned how to pronounce the name of the state after frequent reminders. There was the fellow who approached me at a restaurant just north of Corvalis, accused me of being from "The peoples republic of Portland", and told me just how unhappy he was with all the money being spent of bicycles there. But he was definitely the exception. Almost all the other people I ran into were active, and friendly. The scenery was gorgeous. The state parks were neat and well kept. I especially liked Clyde Halliday State Park. My own opinion is that Oregon residents just say that it is cold and rainy so they can keep out the riffraff. I would go back in a heart beat.

The comments on the article appear to be more informative than the article itself. There does appear to be a lot to see and do in Oregon. I suspect that most states and provinces have more interesting features than most people realize... and thus, the reason for an Escape.

Too Late! You've been Californicated for the last 20 years and probably half of your population are immigrants...same with Colorado.

Nearly all this list comments on Portland and the Willamette Valley. One or two southwest Oregon, but nothing east of the Cascades. Funny 'cuz that constitutes only some 1/3 of the state. No wonder we feel left out by those people and Salem. But it's all good if it keep you all from crowding up this truly beautiful majority of the state.

Oregon=wet and rainy, Nevada=desert. How to confuse an easterner (someone from past Colorado), tell them "well you know Oregon boarders Nevada".

Donna, I love 99% of Oregon, and have always been enthralled with the scenery. BUT, I don't care for Portland. Too much Texas in me I guess. Is that OK?

Hmm that picture of the painted hills in #17 is definitely east of the Cascades (as are the Wallowas and Smith Rock).
We were on a road trip after Dave got out of the service many years ago. We fell in love with the place and, much to our families dismay, never went back to NY! Love it here, it's a special place.

23 things you need to know about Oregon and no mention of Bandon!!!

The article must have been written by a Californian. :-)

Dave and Kathie,

Met you at Cape Dissapointment in March after picking up our 21. I had my awning up and was not completely sure how to get it down. You were so gracious to show me how. You also had lots of good ideas in your trailer, much handier than us.

Thanks again for your help
Jerry

We will get to know Oregon very well in our new 5.0 TA, and its not far from our new home in Nevada...

Jerry - We enjoyed meeting you and your wife. We were so surprised to happen upon another 21 when there are not that many around (yet!). Hope you are having as much fun as we are.

Maybe Forks Washington? Off Hwy 101 on the Olimpic Peninsula. Northwest Washington.

I guess we won't get to see to much of Oregon as we will be cutting across the Northeast corner on I 84 as we head for Chilliwack. But there's always another time. Loren

Actually Oregon I-84 follows the Columbia River from Idaho to Portland; nice scenery - stop at Bonneville Dam and Multnomah Falls (right next to the freeway) if you have time. Farewell Bend State Park is just off the freeway at the Oregon/Idaho border and a great place to stop for a night.
