Insurance Company Recommendations?
We will be receiving our 2020 21NE in Sept and it's time to start thinking of insurance. I have checked with my homeowners/auto company Farm Bureau and they are quoting me $79 month with $500 deductible. This is the first quote I have received so I thought I would reach out to the community and see what you guys recommend. Thanks for your assistance.

Having retired after 30+ years as an agent, as long as you aren’t full timing, your existing auto will probably work just fine. The price you quoted seems a bit high, but without the details of its coverage it’s something hard to compare. Also, different parts of the country will change rates significantly so be careful with with others.
If not full timing, you should only need comprehensive, collision and towing. Your home and auto should cover your liabilities, home should cover your personal belongings. On towing, I always recommended keeping it on the tow vehicle and trailer so they both get towed if the vehicle is towed.
Good Luck.

Be sure and check if the coverage being offered is for full replacement and not prorated by what they feel your escape is worth. I ran into that with state farm

We bought a full replacement policy from Progressive. Costs us a little over $45 per month.

I just got a quote from Progressive (ported from USAA) for $317 /yr. Full replacement / comprehensive / collision. I think the USAA tie in helps a lot. (Plus excellent driving record.)

It's been a few years, so I don't recall the specifics, but seem to recall that I went through Good Sam

And, where the trailer resides, and your credit rating, and mysterious other factors.

Check out AAA as an option. AAA membership is required though.

I wager that AAA will sell your policy to an insurance company.

We added the Escape on our AAA policy. Full replacement coverage. The agent photocopied our build sheet listing all the options!

AAA *is* an insurance company. We used to cover our vehicles under them, and even for awhile our home, but their rates kept going up, so we've gone to alternatives.... I think we're on USAA now for the cars and home (my wife is a veteran), but Progressive offers better trailer/RV insurance.

So, not just an agent? Didn't say how much I would wager.
What do the asterisks mean?

*boldface* and /italic/ ... I got in the habit of using those on plaintext systems that didn't have text formatting.

AAA is the policy holder. Glad I found AAA. In Metro-Boston we had limited options. We were surprised to discover Progressive, Amica, Good Sam and all the big companies don't cover RVs in my region.
Had the same experience as dfandrews. Also, experienced pleasant customer service.
