Jasper

There are literally a few hundred or more Escape owners that have met Jasper.

Jasper at over 13 was starting to develop issues, deafness, stiff hips, some nerve issues, and lately a waning mental disposition. Last Sunday, the 25th of July, while working at my brothers we noticed him missing at the end of the day, but within 30 minutes of last seeing him. After confirming he was not at the house, three of us took off to look for him before he could go too far. We found nothing. Reports were made to Animal Services, various pet finding services, flyers posted for a kilometer away at least as well as dropped off in mailboxes closer by and lots of friends, family and neighbours looking hard for him. We still found nor heard nothing, which was the toughest part after a while.

Early last evening I got a call from a close neighbour of my brother's saying that upon returning yesterday from a vacation they found a dog passed away in a deep window well at their place. They called 311 and sanitation came and picked him up (Animal Services was closed) and after that they found the flyer in their mail and called. This was a sad call to take, but the closure it brought was at least brought some relief.

Jasper was at every Escape Rally except the last one I missed due to a fall, where he met a lot of people. He took in a few other rallies too.

He lead a wonderful life, full of fun and good times. A friend to everyone he met, with never a sad moment until near the end.

We will miss you, my friend.

So sorry for your loss, Jim. We had the pleasure of meeting Jasper at Osoyoos several times. I'm sure he will be missed as well as filling the void left in your life.....

Jim,

Dora and I are heartbroken to hear of Jasper’s passing. Your photos are beautiful! Although he will be missed, you have wonderful memories of him. His job on earth was to bring you and Lisa great joy and that mission has been completed. Hugs to both of you.

I never met Jasper . . . but I've also never met a dog I didn't like. Dogs are, generally speaking, better people than actual people . . . my profound condolences on your loss. All pet owners know how incredibly hard these losses are.

Sorry for your loss Jim. My late 'Blue" really liked him when they met at the rallies. Sadly she passed last August. Now I have "KC" the Beagle, a really sweet girl. Helps heal the loss.

Huge condolences on the loss of your canine companion, Jim (BTDT).

It's wonderful that you have great pics of happy times and memories of Jasper's encounters with others for remembrance, thanks for sharing those.

I'm so saddened to hear that Jim. My heartfelt condolences. We lost our little Yorkie named Coco a couple of years ago, and I know how tough losing a beloved pet can be. I seem to recall that Coco met Jasper at Osoyoos.

Our beagle Charlie died a few years ago. Still, when my wife puts out appetizers on the coffee table and leaves the room, I have a sinking feeling and a moment where I'm looking for the dog.

I'm so sorry. I'm glad you found out what happened, though. There are worse things to imagine even though there are also better ones. It's tough losing our best friend and traveling buddy. I lost one of mine in April.

We lost Gopher, our almost 16 year old Aussie girl on Halloween, 2019.

You’ll have a Jasper sized hole in your heart forever. I think of Gopher all the time.
Sorry.

Just saw your post, Jim, and you and Lisa have my condolences. We lost Annie over 5 years ago and I still haven’t gotten over it. If Jasper was having issues, he is no longer suffering, but doesn’t make it easier for those who miss him. He was a friendly dog and I’m sure he was a faithful companion. So sorry for you; loss of a pet is heartbreaking.
