Sorry for the delay. I've talked to Jim several times. He remains in the rehab hospital where an antibiotic is being administered to him 3x per day. Once the infection goes away he can go home but not before. We limit the conversations to 5 minutes no more. I told him that there has been an outpouring of concern, inquiries, and prayers from members on the Escape forum.

His sense of humor has not been extinguished. There was this one episode where I mention him getting the COVID vaccine and that one of the challenges involved keeping the vaccine in cold storage - up to -73 Celsius (for the Pfizer). He paused for a moment then said: "Tell them to put a dose on top of my ex-wife's heart'. I began to laugh. Then he started laughing. It was a good moment.

Thank you for the update. I knew that was the plan, but its always good to hear how things are going. For me it’s important to help me stay focused on others.

Was it in the form of an ecard? Noelle wrote a particularly poignant message which she wants me to share with the group.

Happy Holidays
Dear family and friends,
Jim and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We lost our beautiful sister (Eva) and neighbor/friend (Alice) to cancer this year. The kids and I lost Grandma Esther (90) who always found joy in meeting new people, and a family friend (Pat) lost her fight with a chronic illness.

As the world fought a killer virus, we discovered that Jim had pancreatic cancer. Three days after the Whipple procedure he coded in the ICU. His daughter Laura and I tag teamed, while I stayed in the hospital with him 24/7. In late Nov, he was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and we were told he had a perforated bowel and they advised against surgery.

We were told to prepare for comfort/compassionate care. Instead, Jim survived two emergency surgeries and is fighting a good fight against infection. Our goal is to bring him home from the hospital next week.

To all of you who have dedicated their lives on the front lines, during covid19...thank you. To those of you who are ill or lost a loved one, God bless you and peace be with you. To all of you reading this message please know we are sending much love and blessings to you always, Noelia, Jim and family.
Remember the joyful times and spread more love and peace.

As I don't see an up-date I just thought to let you all know that Jim has indeed made it home. Which is of course great news as recovery is always faster at home with loved ones.

Hopefully it’s sooner than later that he will begin posting again. Then I can stimulate his recovery with posts about food and good times.

Awesome news! Thanks. Now hopefully he can beat that cancer. It’s a lot to fight, but it sounds like he’s a fighter. I’ll keep praying.

A Jim Norman Update

I got to visit with Jim yesterday. The face to face visit was a bonus. My intention was just to do a porch food drop. But he told Noelia to bring me in the house. He told me to post a Pic and to say "Hello" for him. Also to thank everyone who has expressed concern about his health. He talked about a joint camping trip to Burnt Cabins Grist Mill in the spring. It is one of their favorite Go-To places that is only 1.5 hours away. It's a good sign that he is projecting into the future.

It really good to see Jim again and the fact he’s planning a trip is nice to hear. Hopefully he’s back online soon.
