Latest Border News

As of a short time ago it looks like the Canada/ US border may be closed to tourism and shopping. Canadians/Americans will be allowed to return home if they are out of country. If this is true the only option to pick up new trailers may be to have them delivered into the US. Apparently commercial traffic will be allowed. Interesting times.

I'd like to add, that with all of these posts on border closing, parks closing and the like, it would be most helpful if people would also post the source of the information and the date of publication.
Things are changing so quickly and there is so much bogus information circulating that who and when becomes very important.

Understood. Just want to advise posters.
My source too. CBC radio one and the National and CBC website.
CBC National tonight says there are advanced discussions between US and Canada about closing the border to non-essential travel.

From CNN website

"(CNN)The United States and Canada are preparing to issue a joint statement in the next 24-48 hours to suspend non-essential travel between the two countries, a Trump administration official tells CNN.

The agreement is not yet finalized and officials are still working to define "non-essential travel," but the official stressed that the new restrictions will ensure that business and trade between the two countries can continue."

"Part of the discussions involve what types of vehicles and individuals would still be allowed to travel between the two countries and for what purpose, the official said. The restrictions will likely allow for significant flexibility."

Yup. That accurately expresses what I saw too. And gives a source and time frame.

Thank you , Mark & Glenn for the information
We are in the planning stages for our 40th annual fishing trip to Canada and this news will certainly alter our plans
In the total scheme of things right now , not getting to go fishing or camping seems rather minor

Might have to fish local small water where people are more scarce. If I am fishing and someone would start to approach I’d simply yell at them , “hey don’t get any closer, I’ve been exposed and am self isolating.” That ought to do it.
That’s my plan anyway.

We have 20 acres of land near our home , where our trailer is parked inside our pole barn
If we get the uncontrollable urge to go camping we will pull our Escape out of our pole barn , park it in the driveway , set it up and pretend we are on a camping trip far from home
Our closest neighbor is a 1/2 mile away so no danger of contracting or spreading anything
Our lake is still frozen over but the ice is too thin to go ice fishing and too thick for a boat
Our plan is too ride the storm out at home
Still planning and hoping to go to the rally in Mcgregor Iowa in May but only time will tell
Stay safe and healthy

A long standing military subterfuge has been to switch clothes and wear enemy clothing to penetrate enemy defenses. So muggers will be in hospital gowns, with booties and an n95 mask while the honest folk long for the comfort of street clothes. Ya Think? My wife does not agree. She thinks I’m nuts.

Dave, I haven't even met you yet and I think you're nuts too! In a good way!! I enjoy your posts. You make me laugh, and I'm looking forward to meeting you and your wife one day on the road or at a rally! Take care, Ellen

Just back to Canada from the Keys. Very strange to see so little traffic on roads north of ST Louis. Only 2 cars at border which is normally very busy this time of year. Process is that you are asked usual questions then asked if you have any symptoms, told to self isolate for 2 weeks and given a pamphlet with additional information.

The border is a very busy place.
A snip from the Washington Post.

"Some 200,000 people and more than $1.6 billion in goods traverse the U.S.-Canada border each day. The boundary has not been closed since the United States unilaterally shuttered it after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks — a days-long closure that led to crippling lines."

Please let us know what Escape charges for delivery to Az? Is that the new mini Escape location where the guy has a E17 demo all painted?

As we were supposed to pick up our 21 in may, Escape sent us an email indicating that the delivery cost was approximately $3 a mile. (I am assuming CAD) The delivery cost to Western NY is $8,304 CAD or $5,834 US. Not cheap...

In the past if you had multiple trailers to a load the there was a discount, it was common for ETI to TRY and gang them.

I was under the impression Escape was going to offer pick up in Nevada or Arizona, wherever that dealer is located that supposedly is handling Escapes? He purchased a E17 and had it painted.
