Location box?
So every time I log in to the forum a box pops up wanting to know my location. Is there a reason for this? It’s not that it’s a big deal, I just click no, it’s more annoying than anything.
The only time I turn on my location service is if I’m searching for a specific thing. Like buying a new car as I am now. Let me tell you, it’s a bad time to be buying a car.

RV Life (the company that owns this forum) started an Internet Speed Test Tool that lets you check the speed of your internet connection from where ever you are, and if it is a campground, add the result to their Campground Reviews. Here is more information. In order to add the results to their database the need to know where you are located.

I think it is for the advertisers on the site so they can target advertising to your location. I noticed this, too, recently. My Safari Mac browser says it will remember the location for 24 hours, if I accept. It must depend on whether you have allowed your browser to use location services (or the equivalent MS feature) by default, or not.

I've never, not even once, have a box asking about my location. BUT, I also use AdBlock Plus.

Thanks Jon. That makes sense. I was just wondering. I’ll just keep pressing don’t allow just in case it’s also about advertising as KrikB suggested. I hate advertisements! Which is why I have not had a television hook up for over thirty years. I’ll be skunked if I’ll pay a subscription fee to watch 30 advertisements in a row.

So you block the ads that pay your salary as a member of the site team?

Salary. HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
It's attached to the browser, not to any particular site. Love that it blocks ads on ALL sites.

LOL
But I use AdBlock because websites have stupidly annoying ads. I can handle ads, and still get the ones at the bottom of the EscapeForum page... but I refuse to deal with pop-ups, unwanted video content, and other similar nonsense.
I have turned it off for specific sites that require it off and deliver valuable information to me without excessively annoying ads.

While the default is to block all ads (that it recognizes) on all sites, AdBlock can be set to allow ads for specific sites or even specific pages within sites.
