No, what you see there is your escape hatch inside your Escape, it is over your bed, the MaxxFan is located over the kitchen area on the lower level.

Kate, I'm a bit taller than you. I have the manual MaxxFan, I stand on the bottom step of the loft to turn it on and off. There ARE benefits to getting a remote... although I haven't had any problems.

OK I ordered the upgraded one because I'm short and the smoky window sounded nice. i just was confused when i saw the escape hatch and thought it was the not upgraded fan. For some reason i pictured looking up from the bed out of the smoky window of the maxx fan at the stars?

I just went out to the trailer and a took a couple of photos while lying on my back in the loft area. Here are a couple of shots of what you'll be able to see out of the emergency exit window when the cover is open as far as it will open. It's not a completely clear view because of the screen but it's not bad:

The smoke cover is nice. The first pic is of a non-fan Fantastic vent with an unobstructed view, but it gives an idea of the diffuse light through a smoke lens. The second pic shows both on the roof. The smoke looks better both inside and outside in my opinion. Definitely worth it to upgrade the MaxxFan to smoke cover.
