We have a microwave at home. It is used to cook broccoli.

I don't much like broccoli.

Are the ETI microwaves an inverter type?

I've owned a microwave since the honking huge Amana RadarRanges in the 1970s. I think I own four now. For years, my Mother had two. One in the garage to heat up STINKY food, like broccoli, fish and cauliflower. You either like them, or don't. When you truly understand how they work, have the dishes/implements needed you can 'cook' nearly anything in one. I choose to eat the same way camping as I eat at home... healthy. The microwave in Ten Forward assists in that preparation. It's far more than re-heating coffee, making popcorn or 'baking' a potato. YMMV

No. Would be nice if they were but then they would cost more than $60.

Ooh! Forgot about the popcorn. Have to have extra butter microwave popcorn while I look out at nature.

My Escape came with the "microwave ready" cabinet with a power outlet. On my maiden voyage in 2014 I bought a $50 Rival 700W microwave and put it in the cabinet. I kept a piece of styrofoam from the packing to wedge in it when towing. The microwave is still working.

And people complain about China Bombs, wheel bearings from China and the like.

Yeah, I got lucky with the microwave. Sometimes you get lucky. On the other hand-- recently my $1200 Epson photo printer decided to not turn on one day, so now I'm in Orlando to bring it down to the nearest place to me that services the things (and visit family while I'm here).

As a friend of mine posted, "I put a potato in the microwave and pushed the pizza button. The bell rang, but it was still a potato".

I don't think I've ever used the microwave in our Escape.

we use the propane oven all the time.

This works well for us. When we are boondocking, we simply leave the microwave at home. When we camp with hookups, we bring the microwave in the cabinet. We also use a spring loaded bar to keep the microwave in the cabinet while going down the road.

As for the cabinet door, we attached a light-weight mirror.

We have grown to like this arrangement. Having an extra cabinet when boondocking has been useful. It will also be easy to replace the microwave in the future if needed.

Excellent plan. If I had known how small the ETI micro was in 2014 I would have done the same.

MW??

WE had ours installed in the cabinet under the range and flipped the wardrobe cabinet to the TOP so we could have ETI install a second wardrobe cabinet at the top (optional) on the driver side wall over where the std 2 drawer cabinet resides. We will lose a bit of counter space but made up for it by installing three flip up counter extensions, incl one in the dinette area..should be enuf. WE are transferring from a Casita 17 wh had very little counter space anyways.

Was on the fence about microwave vs cabinet for my upcoming 17B. Ended up ordering installed microwave, plus getting the cabinet door that fits that opening, so if I remove microwave, will have finished door to match rest of trailer. Extra $85 CDN, seemed worth it.
Haven't ever traveled with a camper trailer, so it's all a guess, at this point!

I use my microwave …. sometimes but would very much prefer an oven. I broke my micro dish … it thought it could fly when traveling down a road in Mexico. Cant find the dent it must have left. In the 17' there is no room under the cook top for an oven because the heater is there. Maybe my counter tops could be a bit higher and I could fit a decent cook top such as the Dickenson. Considering extending my counter right on though my wardrobe and having an oven there - below. I like to cook …. anyone hungry?

I have a problem …. I really like my trailer and worst of all …. I'm happy. Sorry I'm such a sinner. The micro can come or go … it matters so little. Go camping!

Well, wanting an oven is the reason I moved from a 17 to a 21. Now I have both an oven & microwave.

An oven was also one of the main reasons we moved to a 19 from our 17B. Haven’t had a micro in either and haven’t missed it. But we sure missed the oven in the 17B.

Not the reason we moved to the 5.0TA, but on the wife's desire, I did install a range and never did a microwave which was not important to us at all. I do now get some lovely baked good done inside by the wife instead of me doing them outside in the BBQ.

While not camping (no microwave in my tent) I use a microwave on a daily basis. I'm liking someone's idea of getting a microwave-ready Escape and then installing an inverter model.
