I was surprised by this. I did not realize that truck campers needed to be registered. Other than being a bit larger, how are they any different from having a topper in the back of your truck box?

Oregon DMV definition for a (truck) camper.

In KS and AK they fall under personal property.

Oregon is only one of a couple of states that do this. Otherwise it is as someone else noted, personal property, and possibly taxable in that way. Its not a vehicle, either motorized or not, so what is the difference between a slide in truck camper and a LEER topper?
