Moving to the dark side tongue in cheek

Today we sold our beloved 21 C to a nice couple in Michigan. We have a Bigfoot on order due in June. Its been a great trailer.

Bigfoot makes a really nice trailer. For me it was too much $ and way too heavy for what I needed, would have to upgrade my TV. Congrats on your new rig!

Thanks, my tow vehicle will handle it. AS we get older off road or boon docking way into tiny places is probably not in our wheelhouse . It's longer and heavier, however, more comfort and living room as well as warmer and cooler. We got to see one on our last camping trip. Sure it's a pile of money, but I suspect when we sell it we will get our money out of it, if the Escape was any indication. If I had to buy one from scratch without the sale of the Escape, it would have been a lot harder. That said Escapes are getting more expensive and I suspect the upcoming 23 will be in the same ballpark as the Bigfoot. Someone got a really well cared for 21 with some nice upgrades.

I wouldn’t call that the dark side. The dark side is a ten year old prowler with a second door cut in with a sawzall and a home air conditioner mounted on the roof that’s been sealed with driveway sealer. I like the Bigfoot trailer, and you’re still very much quality fiberglass. Congratulations

Had a Bigfoot 9.6B pickup camper from 2005 to 2020 when it was destroyed by wind. It was a 2002 model and indeed worked well in the winter well below freezing. Bigfoot RV’s are nice, and I hope my new Escape creates some more of those memories as I’m sure it will.

A Bigfoot isn't the dark side, it's just barely off-white compared to Escape!

I seriously considered the Bigfoot. Beautifully built trailer and super strong. I think the finishing is nicer than Escape, looks closer to an Airstream. The downside for me was the weight and the fact it was 8' wide. I prefer the narrower width and the lighter weight. But I think the Bigfoot is an excellent choice. Good for 4 seasons too. Enjoy the new trailer

Oldwave,

Which model Bigfoot did you go with? At times I wish our Escape 21 was just a bit larger, and the 25 rear queen Bigfoot looks interesting.

Nice, we like that model and the twin bed version. How far out is production on an ordered unit, or did a dealer have one that met your specs coming in?

The dealer network gets spots allocated. We called three dealers, Denver, Atlanta, and Portland. Denver said 12 to 14 months, Atlanta the same, Portland had a June spot required a smaller deposit and had a similar quote price to Denver, Atlantas price was significantly higher. My daughter lives in Portland so we will pick it up,there

Of course there is always the possibility of delays.
We are able to spec the trailer before it enters production

That great, and thanks for the info. As my wife and I spend more time in our 21, if we intend on working from the road a bit we are realizing that the table situation in the Escape doesn't fit well for us. I will reach out to the dealers in Denver and Portland if we decide on a change. Hope you guys enjoy your new Bigfoot!

Room was exactly why we decided to move up. It’s a pile of money, but we want to be more comfortable as we travel in our 70’s

When I was looking at the Bigfoot they were willing to make a few modifications such as the fridge. We wanted to go with a Novakool 12V compressor fridge, which Bigfoot was willing to accommodate by adjusting the cabinet opening etc. Not sure if they are still willing to do these kind of things, but if you do have something that you want modified it would be worth asking. They wouldn't do as much as Escape was willing to do, but they weren't as steadfast as all the other manufacturers.

Congrats on the 'move' oldwave, I can totally appreciate your decision

If Bigfoot currently offered a ~25ft or less 'fiver' I might very well be on a different forum myself

I'd have a Bigfoot instead of Ten Forward if they still produced (or I could find a good USED) Bigfoot Silver Cloud. The only all-molded towable I've ever seen that has an actual living room!

Most of the standard features are fine including the fridge. We had no issues with the Escape absorption fridge. Most of the things I want are pertaining to electrical equipment.

Just curious as to what your going to be towing it with?

We have a Bigfoot Silver Cloud, 1987. We found it after looking at Bigfoot 25s. I liked the 25 foot model that had a separate bedroom, as I concur with Donna Dee. I like our separate rooms. Kevin can hang out in the living room at night while I hang out in the bedroom, as he stays up later than me. In the AM, I am up earlier, so I don't bother him when I get up for coffee. Grant at Bigfoot has said that a 28 foot resurrection was planned, but I don't know when or if the plan has changed.

It does, however, make rally sites interesting to choose. Oldwave, Bigfoot Owners Club (BOCI) has a free 3 month membership for new owners. Their rally in 2022 is in Custer, SD. We plan to go.

2004 f150 tow package fwd super cab. 8500 tow limit with 1880 payload
I’ll install the WeighSafe or equalizer wdh. I also may beef up the suspension a bit.

We will replace this vehicle next year
