Need to Add A/C to 17b

I just purchased a 2016 17b without A/C, but it is wired, I am told. I have a solar panel on the very rear of the roof and a manual vent where I assume the A/C will go.

I'd prefer to take it to Escape in B.C. (I'm in northwest Montana) but cant enter Canada.

I would like advice on size/btu, brand, and any other info I can benefit from , even if you know a good shop here in the Northwest U.S. who could do as good a job as Escape in B.C.

Any and all advice appreciated.

Jim

Unfortunately in a reversal of a Customer First mantra the New Escape trailer evidently will not help you. Doesn't help their bottom line sez their bean counters.

Yeah, my plan was to return to ETI should I ever decide I wanted an air conditioner (it's pre-wired) since I'm six hours from the factory. That's not to be now.

Need to Add A/C to 17b

So , are you saying the factory will not install an A/C for us now ? Or is it just the temporary blocking of Americans at the border that is preventing the factory installation ?

I'm taking it that prewire is just power where the A/C installed after build is one of the ones with the controls on the unit, as opposed to the ones that run off the wall thermostat.

If that's the case, adding A/C to a trailer that has wiring in place and has the opening already there should be fairly easy for any competent RV tech.

My 2010 17B with air conditioning has what looks like a fiberglass shell added to the roof. I assume to reinforce the roof for the weight of the A/C unit? Not sure if this part is needed for A/C or not?
