New Border Rules

Breaking news on the noon news. As expected the Canadian government isn't renewing the existing entry rules that expire Sept. 30

For those folks that want to visit ETI in person or pickup in Sumas and then enter Canada things will be easier.

It's also looking like some folks who weren't allowed to enter Canada under the existing rules will be able to do so.

Any idea if this changes things for travelers who haven't had, or aren't fully current on, the C19 jab?

Ah, that would be the last sentence in my post. Not trying to name anyone.

I'll be getting full details in a couple of hours.

OK, it's official, as of Oct. 1 there are no Covid restrictions for entering Canada.

So, even if picking up at Sumas, it's no big deal to visit ETI beforehand or cross back into Canada to do some sightseeing or take the Northern route East.

It's important to note that the US government has not changed their rules. Unvaxed US citizens are allowed to cross into the US, however Canadian (and other) citizens must be prepared to present proof of vaccination. A covid test is not required when entering by land or ferry.

Here's the official Canadian information. Anyone can enter with appropriate identity documents (eg passport, visa if necessary)
