Welcome, Trip (great name for an RV'er!). See link:
https://www.rv-camping.org/quartzsiteaz/
Never been there, but I hear it's a great place to over-winter if you enjoy boondocking.
Here is info for the next "Quartzsite Gathering" winter RV rally (Feb 5-11, 2018) from another forum:

It's a town in Arizona. But when we refer to it, it's often as a description for a gathering of all-molded towables on BLM land called affectionately "Dome Rock."

It is also an interesting place to spend the winter (at least if you are from a place that gets 150" - 200" of snow each winter). In addition to Dome Rock & the other 14 day one time stay areas, there are Long Time Visitor Areas (LTVAs). You pay $40.00 for 2 weeks that can be repeated or $180.00 for 7 months. The $ gives you access to dump stations, fresh water & dumpsters for your trash. There are 4 LTVAs in Quartzsite, and more in California - other than Quartzsite, Imperial Dam is one of my favorites. The same long term pass can be used at any of the LTVAs, so you can move between them.

There are a bunch of traditional RV parks in Quartzsite, as well as a huge mineral show & sale in the middle of January, and the "Big Tent" RV sale towards the end of January. For more about the town & "goings on", check out the 2017 - 18 Guide.

Trip, I assume by now you've seen the old thread from this past March that was brought back to life following your inquiry about Quartzsite.

Some of the residents of the town of Quartzsite may know what state they're in but some of them may not be sure what time zone they're in. For some the 1960's never ended. Peace. A town with a lot of character(s).

Yes, I saw that. In fact I was wondering "did I miss that?" before I posted my question.

Thought the name was mysteriously similar to the mineral Quartzite...

"In 1896, a second post office was established on Moon Mountain Road, managed by postmaster George Ingersoll. Shortly after the establishment of the second post office, Quartzsite became something of a supply center, with a hotel, butcher shop, general store and quite a few saloons. The name Quartzsite was suggested due to the abundance of that particular rock found in the area. According to one report, the Post Office Department was responsible for misspelling the name “Quartzite,”by adding an “s” to the official name."
