Nightmare
I had a dream last night that I was camping next to a river in a state park. When, from upstream, a flood inundated the campground and my Escape floated away. The family and I were able to escape to high ground. Of course my Escape was a total loss and I was hoping that the insurance company was going to pay me. Oddly, my two sons who are in their mid twenties, were 15 years younger in my dream.

What were you eating before retiring? That does happen out west where it rains like 100 miles away and the dry gulch turns into a raging torrent.

The second year we had our HiLo trailer when the kids were young we camped at Hueston Woods in Ohio (great park) for Memorial day. It was close to home so I would pull it down and drop the trailer off a day early to get a site. I debated about the class A versus class B. Hookups versus no hookups. Finally decided on Class A. Overnight they had 8 inches of rain and the class B had 4 feet of water. All the picnic tables were piled up at the far end as the water flowed through. When we showed up on Friday I breathed a big sigh of relief for a near miss. That would have been a nightmare.

If the flooding in that photo had been here in the Southeast, you'd need to keep an eye out for water moccasins and floating clusters of fire ants desperate to find something to cling to and climb up out of the water. You don't want to encounter either. Mother Nature can be dangerous in many ways!

Did you go to the 2015 Javelina Roundup? That sure sounds like deja vu. Flash flood came thru one night, washed out the road leaving the state park, and forced everyone to relocate to high ground in the dark standing knee deep in water.
