No front E19 window guard?

Someone over on FB just posted their picture of new E19 delivered. No front window guard? That is an accident waiting to happen IMHO, birds and other items have hit the front of my trailer and cracked the gelcoat, that window is single paned also. I'm surprised the factory let this go through like that?

We had the best of both worlds on our 17B. No rock guard but we had a Lexan storm window. Protection, visibility and insulation.

That was something you added yourself, correct Tom?

I saw that and was wondering about the same thing. Don't see any sign of clips or added hinges on that 19.

I believe it was added by the previous owner. I asked Escape to duplicate it on the 21 and they indicated that they couldn't do so. It is a beautiful option though.

There was one on recently where the cover was not secured properly and got damaged. Was purchased by new owners. They mentioned replacing it. Not sure if this is the same one or not, but looks like it.

Edit: Just found it. It was damaged, they are reinstalling it.

That's an unsupported presumption.

Is it possible to replace the front window with tempered , safety glass similar to auto glass ?
The window next to our whirlpool tub was required to be safety glass and if I remember correctly the price was not excessive
The only problem I see with replacing it with safety glass is glass thickness and weight
I know plexiglass / lexan would work but from my experience , it scratches much to easily to stand up to road dust .

Why is that, this was just delivered this week, is a new unit, and had to have come from Chilliwack! Who else there makes Escapes?

You think ETI's quality control is so bad that they wouldn't notice a missing rock cover? Besides, as mentioned above, the owner said they didn't secure it properly and it was damaged.

My point being, the new Escape owners seem like they will comply with a lot of requests that were turned down previously, for example mixing types of windows which would not happen in prior years. Perhaps it was requested that cover remain off, not sure.

Fine. But, this is what you wrote, "I'm surprised the factory let this go through like that"?

How would you have phrased that?

Boys, boys, let's not get into a pixxing contest.

I agree with Glenn though, your comment does seem to imply that it just slipped by Escapes notice.

If ETI is allowing folks to delete the rock guard, and we don't know that, why couldn't they just install a double glazed window which would lessen the danger of a broken window leaving the interior prone to damage and also provide the improved insulation associated with a double glazed window.

The reason that the front window is single glazed is because of the rock guard. No rock guard, why have a single glazed window?

We just finished our build process and when I requested the storm window, like we had on the 17, I was advised they couldn't do that, however I did have the choice of not having a rock guard if I didn't want one on the trailer. I ultimately went with the rock guard, but not having one is an option they will allow, if requested.

Fellas...It's not "pixx", it's "Pizz" ... As in "pizzing contest." Unless I got the wrong colour, that first version must be the Canadian spelling. Been in a few myself.

Well, either your right, or you're wrong...Anyhooo...

Thanks for clearing that up. A bit surprising but now we know it's an option.

Which raises the question. If you can have the front window without a rock guard can you have a front window that's double glazed with a black frame to match the others?
