To me the most important aspect is Escape’s commitment to continually improve their product. In the last ten years you are talking three fifth wheel designs, two 17s, 19s and 21s plus the retired 13 and 15. Quite an investment for a young company.

Compare this to anyone else in this market, it’s a unique commitment. Kudos to the Escape team.

How come no one mentions the medicine cabinet? Thought everyone is so happy with it....
Old version doesn't have it, new version does.
(Don't miss it whatsoever, and really like the old style, overall. We were one of the lucky customers that could choose between old and new version. Guess that makes me "old fashioned"....?)

Are you sure Arnie? I know the two generations are the same at the belly band so I assumed the extra room was in the top and bottom corners on the inside of the cabinetry.

I whole heartedly agree. I'm partial to the classic because it's ours!

Plus, I really like the curtain across the door of our 21, so I can never upgrade to a gen2.

Yes, Mary, that curtain on the Classic is a big deal and we have our own beach design in addition to the other one, which I really like and use when inside.

Pat, we have no problem either with the screen door and I much prefer it. Also glad to have spray foam.

I thought that when looking straight at the trailer that there is a little more frontal area to the newer ones, no?

Newer insulation is in the roof of at least some Classic 21's, I believe. Yes, the Reflectix has next to no R value and yet seems to work well. Of course, we also have foam so maybe we cannot tell.

The new model actually has a modest amount more final area as a result of making the sides straight which in essence squares up the corners.

I can’t find the post where I read that the fridge and cabinets were closer to the outside shell because they did not have to accomidate the curve of the body. This resulted if a couple of extra inches in the isle. But now I’m not sure since I can’t find the post where I thought I read that. Hmmmm.

I’ll bring a tape measure to the rally and compare my 2013 with someone’s new one.

The frontal area is not affected by this recessed space for the awning. It starts back along the side a little ways.

Our trailer is a 2nd Gen style and we got it in Nov 2016. It wasn't the first one either. I think they were coming out several months before that.

I've not seen a curtain on the Classic style, so can't comment on that aspect. But if someone wanted a curtain across the door on the 2nd Gen you could use one of those tension rods between the now-standard cubby and the upper kitchen cabinet. I would assume. I've never looked up there with that in mind, but will do so later today when I haul more stuff out there.

It’s a common practice in manufacturing to release a certain model year some months prior to that year. Auto industry does it every year. My Subaru is a 2006 model year, although I bought it in November 2005. I believe early on ETI themselves referred to the 2G models as “2017” models.

If you figure it out, Laura, that would be cool; but I looked at pics (at the time) and could understand why ETI had to drop that feature. I'm sure they tried to keep it, but in the end it just wasn't doable.

Of course, since you've not seen what we're talking about in the classic, your unbiased eye may see something the rest of us have not.

Still, I'm not planning to upgrade to Gen2.

Prairie Schooner was hatched 9/1/2016 and is the 2nd G type, maybe one of the first off the line.

The Classic E-21 has a flat floor front to rear. In the newer E-21 trailers the rear dinette floor is raised 3". If I had a choice on a new install I would have a chase installed in front of the step up and keep all H&C water lines inside the cabin.

I like the more rounded shape of the classic Escape shells over the more straight sided and boxy 2nd generation shells. I also really prefer the awnings that were standard with the older Escapes. That being said, I will not hesitate to order a new 2nd generation Escape if and when I ever decide to add a 5.0 to the mix.

Maybe I didn't lubricate the thing enough. It's a horse-shick designed retractable screen, but no deal breaker.
