The trailer cover, with a layer of painter's drop sheet under it, does a good job but I'd love to have a rigid structure.
Ron - So to be clear you use a plastic painters drop underneath the trailer cover? So essentially two covers. 1. Painters drop to keep the trailer dry, then 2. Actual trailer cover to protect against UV, and to keep out any light stuff like fall leaves, etc. Does the use of the plastic painters drop help stop the green algae from growing everywhere?

What trailer cover do you have?

That's correct, essentially two covers.

First of all, I live in a rain forest and get much more rain than even Vancouver, only a few miles away. Mountains will do that.

I have an old Adco cover and it's holding up very well. But I found early on that it's not waterproof and moisture that seeped through would also bring fallout dirt with it. So, good for UV and big stuff but not good for the trailer being just as clean in the Spring as when I covered it up.

The Adco cover did get some algae on it but with the poly between the Adco and the trailer that's now a non-issue.

I now use this poly. It's very inexpensive, goes on super easy and the trailer is just as clean in the Spring as when I covered it. The 9' width is perfect and I cut it to hang down just past the bottom of the front and rear windows. Works for me.

I ordered one of those basic metal carports yesterday! They say it should be installed in 2-3 weeks.

Once that's installed I'll pull power over before summer. I'll stick with 15 amp since the Coleman Mach 10 has the soft start.

Now I need to figure out if hypervent is the way to go for under the bed.

Regarding under-bed layers, I happened to see these coconut-latex mats on Amazon today. It says they're for gardening, but I wonder if they would work under a mattress? 2 sets, less than $40, would be plenty for a queen.

Our Escape Nest is nearly complete. The carport was installed Monday.

Now a little spring time clean up and pull some power over and it's done.

Maybe.....I doubt it.

If I do it would be on the long South side and only a few feet down. I had this cheap metal carport setup more so to prevent sun damage of the roof items and also to slow down the dirty black streaks on the sides. If I wanted to fully protect our Escape I would have had an enclosed pole barn put up. But $3,000 vs $25,000 is a lot of insurance money to put out on the if/come.

You can't see fully from the photo but I have large grove of cedar trees on the East Side (Rear), a very large oak on the West Side (Front), a large tree line to the South, our house to the North and the entire area is recessed down in a north facing hillside.

The hail storms we've had here over 20 Years have come out of the West/Southwest. That is the direction of the photo.

Yep that’s what I meant should have clarified just one panel down would be perfect as the siding is 3 ft wide. That would still leave you plenty of clearance to move around n work your trailer

A thought

To protect some from the sun, that black, mesh sunscreen fabric sheeting may be useful on the sunny sides. It would allow air to pass but reduce UV exposure.
Just a thought.

I'll have to look into that.
