That is an interesting unit. Kinda makes you think about building a small custom unit.

For our trailer I think we will stick with a more traditional set up

islandr, we have a pull-out spray faucet. I hate to tell you that it is fine and then the next thing it leaks. When I have used the spray, which is rarely, it drips for a moment or two and then stops. Knock on wood. No telling how long the faucet will be okay but it has been so far.

Thanks for the pic Cathy

We like the look of the single post style of faucets as well. We don't think we choose a pull out model as the sink is not large enough that the spray can not get every where. Still shopping around to find one with a high arch that has enough reach. There are some bar faucets that have a nice arch but they do not have the reach.

I have a few more days of internet shopping for faucets, some good quality fixating time.

Weather is kinda grey here today so Ellen and I are heading down to an upholstery shop to check out choices there.

Be careful about the "reach." The best faucet, when turned on, will have the water go straight down the drain. If it misses the drain, you'll end up with "splash." These sinks are shallow in comparison to home sinks.

Thanks for the link to Phoenix. I didn't know that they were a supplier.

As I mentioned above, I am going to keep looking for a faucet with a smaller "footprint" on the counter. Similar to the one Cathy showed us. The challenge is to keep costs and the units scale reasonable. We don't need a nicer faucet in the trailer than we have in the house.

Our Trailer is in Production - It was hard to wait for this notification

Exciting times for Ellen and I. The email came with the first pictures of production for delivery March 18th. The options we chose make it possible to camp both at Provincial/National Parks (no hook ups) and those state parks with hook ups.

We chose custom laminate for the counters and table top, fabric for the U-shaped dinette and a different kitchen faucet.

These are the options we chose from the Escape list:

Stainless Steel Stove, Sink, and Rangehood - just some inside bling
6.3 Cu Ft Fridge - won't have to bring coolers when lots of beverages needed
Two Way Water Heater - quieter than gas fired when power available
Window Above Sink - more light

Double Insulation / Dual Pane Windows - hopefully warm / less condensation
Spray Foam Insulation Underneath (deleted heat pads) - warm floors in fall
120V Wall Heater - quiet heat when hooked up / no cube heater underfoot
(http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...ater-1006.html)

Dual 6V Batteries - lots of capacity for camping with no power
Interior LED lights - lights at night with less worrying about power
Pre Wire for Solar - presently I have a portable 60 watt Solar Panel
Surge Protector - your tales of campground wiring scared me
Removable Power Cord - one less hole in trailer / tidier coil of wire for storage

Aluminum Wheels - outside bling / and corrosion resistant
Bike Rack Ready - build it and they will come (making it easy to bring bikes)

So that is the list and some of the reasons for the choices we made

33 more sleeps till the big day

Very nice!
Can you tell me which faucet you ended up choosing?
And, did you purchase the electric heater, ship it to Reace and have him install it?
Only 32 nights to go for you now :<)

We found a faucet at Ikea. One with a high arch and without a large footprint on the counter.

For the heater there will only be a roughed in opening and I will have to install the heater. I believe Escape is unable to install heater due to regulations.

Picture showing the cutout for the BIG fridge and the wall mounted heater. I started to freak out about the two cupboards that are deleted and Ellen said that there is still plenty of storage in a 5.0. In our 17B the storage around the bed/dinette was for clothes, in this trailer it can be used for kitchen items.

View of the sleeping area also showing captains lights that will hopefully be good reading lights over the shoulder. The framing near the power jacks is for the stairs which also have storage.

Those are the highlights from the first set of photos, Ellen and I are looking forward to getting more and finally seeing it in person

Some More Photos of the Ongoing Build

Just over 2 weeks until the delivery of our new trailer, 16 sleeps . When the order was placed last October it seemed like a long time away, things have happened pretty quick the last few weeks.

[/IMG]

A picture to prove that Escape Trailer Industries is building our trailer.

[/IMG]

Picture of the optional big fridge, as mentioned earlier it was chosen so we would not have to carry a cooler for beverages. There is lots of storage in the 5.0 compared to our old 17B so we don't think the deleted storage will be missed. At the bottom of the fridge you can see the cut out for the 120volt wall heater I will install.

[/IMG]

Kitchen before drawer fronts and things

[/IMG]

The high arch faucet we selected and " slate sequoia " formica counter tops.

[/IMG]

Cupboard doors, drawer fronts and stainless steel range hood. You can also see the fabric we chose on the valance.

[/IMG]

View up to the sleeping area, and pantry on the right. For those that don't know there is also storage in the bottom stair.

We kinda went with a leap of faith on the fridge. The new standard fridge would have been smaller than the one we had in the 17B, and there were times it was FULL.

Being that it is so voluminous there may be a challenge in keeping things from moving around during travel if it is not completely full.

If there is enough beverages in there, they can act as a temperature sink and help keep temp consistent.

The beer glass is half full

Up early and heading for the ferry

Today is the day we pick up the new trailer. Lots to do as the hitch has to be installed as well today.

No more sleeps
