over the range Microwave

We are just beginning our thoughts on our build for a 19. After reading thoughts about the range hood, I wondered about an over the range microwave with vent. It could also be convection. I don't know if there is enough space in the cabinet over the range to use that and the depth of the range hood.
I saw this one and wondered? Sharp R1875T

That would be a custom install by the owner, and would require some modifications to the cabinetry to support the weight. It's also very wide - almost 30". The height of the unit would also mean you'd have to modify the overhead cabinets so it could mount higher, if that were possible. As for convection, you'd have to make sure the convection function vented out the front, or duct it to vent where the normal range hood exhaust is. Sounds like an awful lot of work to me, but to each his own.

When it comes to these things I like to remember the rule to keep it simple. A smallish countertop convection oven/toaster would fit the bill, and no installation mods or headaches required.

I do not think the cabinets can support that amount of weight, either over the refer or under the stove are the only weight allowing places. I have not had a microwave in my camper for over 5 years and have not missed it.

I think Robert (rbryan4) covered the issues well. The width is the problem I've found, when looking for a cabinet-mounted convection microwave oven. The 30" width is matched to common household ranges, but RV ranges are and stoves - and thus range hoods and over-stove cabinets - are typically narrower.

It is not a deal breaker, I think the one my wife was looking at was specifically for RV's ...we are just getting started...late 2017 delivery.
Thanks for the feedback!

If such a microwave is important enough to you, I would consider the 21' and talking to Escape about what they could do on such a thing.

I did a quick search, and even though some OTR microwaves are listed for RVs, they are all still 30" wide which is the standard for above the range in a home. As others mentioned, supporting it would be a real challenge. Another issue is that the fan would be 120V and not 12V, so would not work unless you were hooked to the grid, or using an inverter.

It would be cool if somehow you found something and could make it work.
