packing to pick up 19' TT

We are looking forward to driving to Chilliwack to pick up our 19 ' TT this winter.
Packing questions:
What diameter ball does the trailer use (2" or 2 5/16")?;
What is the size of the hitch receiver for the optional bike rack (2" or 1 1/4 square)?
What is the maximum height for storage-boxes under the main bed?
What is the maximum size for storage boxes under the dinette seats?
With bicycles on a hitch, is there an effective way to combat salt and corrosion, in winter?

Thanks esKAPE

Excitement, YAY!!!

2" ball
2" receiver
We use laundry baskets
Not sure, trailer is in storage, but the seats are bins in themselves, most things we put directly in there unless small.
Constant washing, or a cover would be my guess. Don't forget the studded tires for the bikes, so you don't wipe out on the ice.

Re: packing to pick up 19' TT

If I were putting bicycles on the rear of any vehicle this time of year I would be sure they were in a sealed bag or carrying case. Wrapping them in a plastic garbage bag will not work, I would use something like the mud sak. There maybe other similar products. It maybe possible to find a heavy duty plastic that has a decent shape. Something a matress may come in, cut to fit and then sealed shut. Salt and especially wet salt spray will wreck a bike, if you paid more than $500 you have a bike worth protecting.

This would apply if I were roof racking it or carring it in the back of an open truck. So, do you have a SUV that will carry bikes inside? Then consider FastRak SUV bike rack, I use a version from a different manufacturer that is great. It gets expensive cycles out of the elements and reduces the wind drag that my rooftop rack creates.

I also carry a tandem on occasion, it will only fit on a roof rack. I have toyed with carrying it inside the Escape using my FastRak. Not sure about the hassle of taking it in and out, having it in the way and potential damage to the interior.

Hi: EsKaPe...The most important thing to pack is a good dose of safe driving. I know you are used to winter road conditions but always expect the unexpected. Have a safe trip and if you tug thru our area and need a place to stop...you know where we are. Alf

Re: packing to pick up 19' TT

Thanks hippo, and all, for the speedy replies
I am saving Rease until we get our hands on tutorials!
We don't have room in the SUV for bikes on the maiden trip.
We have to choose one of: canoe, bikes, or golf clubs, for this voyage,
looks like it's golf.
I am advised to put a coat of wax on the exterior; Are there any other
jobs that I should plan to do early in our 90 day, golden tour, trip back home?
