Picking up 5.0 in January/February from Sumas
We received a completion date of January 30th. While we're excited, we're apprehensive due to potential off-gassing. We've read the threads on keeping vents and windows open, and the smells and chemicals that come from new construction.
How do we deal with this in the cold weather?
We were hoping to travel for a few weeks before heading home to Wisconsin.
Thoughts?

Bring layers of warm clothes, and warm house slippers, etc.
If your trailer doesn’t have an electric heat option, bring a small electric heater. You’ll be able to run that when connected to shore power.
Basically, you’ll need a lot of heat and warm clothes, so you can choose between warm or fresh air, or something in between.
I’m kinda sensitive to the off gassing, and we camped for several days on the way home in April. It’s finally done with off gassing, yay! It takes months to dissipate….

We picked up our 5.0 on October 26, 2018, and didn’t arrive home in Minnesota until December, camping down the Pacific coast till we went inland to reach friends near Sacramento. Many nights were below 40F, and once we left Sacramento, every night was below freezing for the next two weeks till we arrived home.
There was tremendous off-gassing. We’d already been advised this would probably be the case and to run the Maxxfan on high for the first hour after pickup and then on the second lowest speed for the next 6-9 months. The fan was never turned off during those 6-9 months. After about 9 months the off-gassing was essentially gone, but we always ran the fan on low for the next 1 1/2 years. We’re both very sensitive to off-gassing, but had no problems with our sensitivity. For us, the Maxxfan did the job.
Because we had the Maxxfan on 2 we went through more LP than normal, but it was well worth it.
Enjoy,
Perry

The pickup date for our 5.0 was mid-March 2021. For a number of reasons we delayed pickup one month to mid-April. The weather was better for our extended return trip and the new construction could off gas for a month before pickup. It was actually outside for about 6 weeks waiting for a back ordered hatch. At that time, ETI allowed a month storage with no added fees. We kept the Maxxfan on exhaust for the entire trip and weren't bothered by the off-gassing

We've picked up our 5.0 1 year ago and had no problems whatsoever with off-gassing.

Glad you two piped up because i was starting to wonder if we were the only ones to pick up two Escapes and never do anything different because of off gassing.
For us, new car smell, yes, a problem or have to do anything about it, no.
