Alf:
I'm guessing that "everyone else" might include your significant other, so this is a delicate subject.
What I have found works for me is to develop a plan that
includes what "everyone else" wants to do and what I enjoy doing also. For example, next Wednesday we are leaving for the Sisters Oregon Quilt Show, an event we have been to before. (
http://www.sistersoutdoorquiltshow.org/). "Everyone else" likes to look at the quilts. I have found I can entertain myself taking photos of the quilts (photography is my hobby) and observing the phenomenon, a naturalists dream, of 30,000 or so estrogen-laden humans flocking in a great noisy wave through a colourful landscape of colour. It is all over in one day, and is something to be seen in your lifetime!
