While I do think my added rigid foam makes for a warmer floor I don't think it's reduces outside noise much.
I've found the greatest difference between my previous trailer with single glazed windows and my current Escape with double glazed windows to be the reduced exterior noise.

Yes he did say that which is another side of the debate...keeping the water tanks and trailer cooler.

To foam, or not to foam, that is the question! Following . . .

While we do have the extra insulation and thermal windows, we didn’t opt for the spray foam on the bottom. To me it seemed like something that could be added later if we decided we needed it. Also preferred to keep underbelly components more visible for inspection or repair.

No foam. Floors not cold or hot without it. No damage underbelly current trailer or all previous ones. Trailer is quiet with dual pane windows, don’t think foam would make it any quieter.

Greg not everyone's same experience . We all have different experiences. That's OK . We each want our trailer to have what we like or think we need . It really doesn't make having the foam or not , the right or wrong way to go . That's my take on this anyway . Good to hear different opinions or experiences to help some to decide . Pat

Pat, that’s why I’ve said from the start, if it feels good to you get it, if it doesn’t don’t.
I’d still like to see data rather than conjecture, however, so people can evaluate whether the cost is worth the benefit. Maybe at Quartzsite if we have some infrared thermometers we can start to put some real numbers behind this.

I don't have foam insulation. I've read on other RV websites that the spray foam inhibits inspection and repair of components beneath the trailer, so I don't think I want the foam.
I do find it interesting that heat from the road will heat the fresh water tank. I never thought of that.

Just a guess, but I'd bet Jon has one.

I agree, Bob and was just going to email Jon to get it ready.
Pat, you and I both have classic 19's one foam and one no foam. I say we're the 19 test group at the Q.
We need a foamed and non foamed 17, 21, and 5.0 that are coming to Q that would like to participate in the study.
I am offering the Quarzsite Escape Foam Challenge that if each of the foamed trailers beats the surface floor temps under controlled conditions by +5 degrees(no Celsius allowed) of the non-foam trailers, then we'll head to Dairy Queen and the non-foam trailer owners will buy the foam trailer owners a small Blizzard of their choice.
If it is less than +5 degrees then the foam trailer owners will buy the non foam trailer owners the Blizzard of their choice.
This is an $800 CA option so I think it should at least yield +5 degrees difference, eh?
So waddya think, Pat. You feel lucky?

Suggest you tow the trailers through the Dairy Queen drive through to see if black asphalt makes a difference.

Foam - Yes. (1)Sound attenuation , and (2)keeps heat in when its cold, and heat out when it's hot (think: Mojave Desert).

One other element I would suggest as a data point: old style framed thermo-pane windows vs new style frameless thermo-pane windows. It would be easy enough to collect that data at the same time to see if there is any variance.

Foam, for sound and thermal insulation.
Scratched off our short list any manufacture that didn't offer foam as a factory option. And who was left...?
When it gets a little dinged up I hit it with some black spray paint.
