All this poutine talk is making me hungry. Thanks to the web and a little ingenuity, presto, SoCal tater-tot imitation cheese curd poutine!

I tried a speciality dish at a local cafe, mashed potato poutine. While not too bad, it was just not real poutine. Good spuds, good cheese curds, good gravy, all required. Adding a bit of meat too can be great.

One out of three. Gives me something to look for at the end of a 1200 mile drive in May!

We tried Poutine today at Mooyah(near our hotel) I can see it as a comfort food. My first thought was to eat fast before it gets soggy!!

Though not required, scarfing it down is not a bad thing.

Finally, a local cultural event worthy of partaking in.

Calgary Poutine
Only 5000 served. Sheesh!

I'm hitting a different fest here Jim.

Osoyoos Oyster Festival

No idea how the seafood fest started in landlocked Okanagan but hey, not complaining.

Commonly referred to as Prairie oysters around here. I have tried them, and they are not all too bad.

To me, as a German poutine seemed too weird to not at least try it for once.

So I had my first on Vancouver Island at the Western Speedway and I loved it. So did my daughter, and my husband.

Living on the mainland I tried different types of poutine at New York Fries. Love the usual poutine 'cause the fries are sooooo good, love the veggie works poutine as well.
Haven't tried the chilli con carne or butter chicken yet, but knowing myself I believe it's going to be another happy day in my life.

I think it's one of those things you either like or hate.

As usual poutine, especially the gravy doesn't taste good all the time. It's like Wiener Schnitzel , it's a special dish with a certain taste to it.

cheers,
Mel (& Ron)

You no longer have to go all the way to Canada for Poutine! Just saw where BeHappy Poutine Shop is opening in Asheville, NC! Why am I not surprised? So, if you are visiting Asheville and you need your Poutine fix, just go to 354 Merriman Ave and enjoy!!! As for me, I'm heading out to the coast shortly to camp.
