Could someone help me with the difference on the escape 5th wheel
5, 5ta tandem axel, verse single axel
Pro;s and cons of each
gas millage difference between the two, weight, etc.
I am looking at both and trying to decide on which one
The obvious difference is the single axle of the 5.0 versus the tandem axles of the 5.0TA. This can affect stability and the "bucking" interaction of the trailer and tug over road bumps.
The 5.0 was replaced by the 5.0TA, so the 5.0 exists only in the first-generation or "classic" body style, while the 5.0TA was made in the first-generation body style and is now made only in the second-generation or "2017" style. It is no longer possible to buy a new Escape of the first-generation body style, in any model.
The 5.0 was derived from the 17' model, and is the same width as the 17' (2.0 m or 80"); the 5.0TA was derived from the 21' model, and has the greater width of the 21' (2.2 m or 88").
The 5.0 had the same type of suspension (axle) as other Escapes - the Dexter Torflex independent rubber-sprung system - and the 5.0TA now does as well (two of them); however, for a couple of years from its introduction the 5.0TA came with beam axles on leaf springs (the only Escape model to have beam axles).
Dimensions (including weights) are given in the brochures:
