We are in the fourth summer with our 5.0TA. Very happy with our purchase but I'll list the issues we have had so far.
Issues:
  • Leaking window right after pickup-ETI replaced.
  • Maxx Fan control board (I've spent far too much time working on this thing) replaced and buck converter added. Just went on the fritz again
  • Broken cabinet hinge. Replacement found at home depot.
  • "Self opening" frameless awning windows. We secure the knobs with low adhesive tape when traveling. There are better solutions but it works for us.
  • Wardrobe cabinet bottom was not supported properly and drooped down. EZ fix but have't completed yet.
  • Cosmetic-I have a couple of spots where oak tape was used to cover a misaligned butt joint in the paneling that should have been fixed. Minor but something I notice.
  • Cosmetic-the propane compartment door opening is is wider at the top right side and barely catches the backstop but does still close correctly and prevents water intrusion when moving.

This is our 3rd RV. Bigfoot camper was our first and Lazy Daze was our 2nd. I consider them all to be of an equivalent build quality and they had their share of issues also. I would, and do recommend escape without hesitation to family and friends when the discussion turns to RV's.

I feel spoiled now with so much alaska amber in these parts but must admit I rarely drink it with so many local selections I've yet to try.

Towing with Touareg

The VW Touareg TDI has a tow capacity of 7700 lb. and 660 lb. on the ball. It tows the 17B without any effort, stable even in cross winds. And being a diesel returns great fuel economy when towing and when not. Its the sister vehicle to the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne. Sadly VW stopped importing the diesel version Nov 2015 after dieselgate hit and discontinued the gas version 1 year later. Touareg was the flagship vehicle of the VW line, not cheap at 64k but had lots of very nice features and high build quality. Also very proficient off road as well. One really nice feature is its width which allows towing the 17B without trailer mirrors which are problematic and a real pain. Also VW do not sanction the use of a equalizer hitch, mainly due to the 4 motion all wheel drive arrangement as the equalizer lightens the rear end while pushing load to the front wheels.

I really like hoppy beers. A long term favorite is Belle's Two Hearted Ale (a Michigan original).

This summer I'm drinking Founder's Unraveled, which is a hazy IPA.

Highly recommend both.

The Touareg was replaced (in this market) by the Atlas, which is even bigger than the Touareg (in every dimension). It's really noticeable when you see one parked beside a Golf - it makes the Golf look like a kid's toy. The Atlas is built on the "MQB" platform the Volkswagen Auto Group prefers for their Volkswagen-branded models (and is probably a bit cheaper to build), and comes with a comparable engine, but is probably not as suitably equipped for towing.

Maybe I should have said the East Coast: Their Distribution Map. I usually drive east across the south, and it disappears at the big river. None in NY...

Oooh, I need to pay attention to your posts. I'm a hoppy beer fan and my current favorite is Two Hearted Ale. Also like Dogfish Head 90 Minute but haven't had it in a while.

I skipped to the end of this thread and found it did wander all over the place!

If anyone is ever passing through Tulsa, I heartily recommend a stop at the Broken Arrow Brewing Co. microbrewery in downtown Broken Arrow OK. I am not a big beer drinker but I do enjoy ordering a flight every now and then at that place. (For those who don't know, a 'flight' is a sampler tray of, in their case, 4 different beers.) If they happen to have their Belgian Quad ("Father Dominic") on tap, be sure to get some.

Tulsa is also home to Marshall Brewing, Dead Armadillo Brewery, and several other microbrews.

Very interestingly, just compared my options purchased in May 2019 and compared to same options if purchased currently in 2022. The earlier 2019 build options totaled $9085 and using 2022 prices the total is now $9188 or $103 increase. We used to call that "de minimus" back at work when it was not worth the paper effort to make the changes.......
