Referral check from ETI
We just received another referral check from ETI for showing our unit. It was half the usual amount so I assume the "lookers" listed two unit visits. That's fine and just happy to get anything. My problem, though, is they sent me a check on a Canadian bank and my bank won't cash it and wants to charge me about half the amount of the check to clear through our Fed Reserve. I'm a 45 year member of NFCU and have A LOT of money in their coffers. Anyhow, to my question ... do you know if ETI has a US bank account they can draw on? I've sent them an email posing the question but no answer yet. It may be I'll just have to frame the check and hang it in the camper.

I'd say get a better bank. My bank (Community Bank NA) cashed mine from a cell phone photo.

Well you would think Navy Federal Credit Union .... one of the largest credit unions in the world ... would not have a problem. Thanks but doesn't answer my question.

I'm not aware of any US Escape Trailers banking arrangement, I'd open another account in another bank that does not charge exorbitant fees.

The referrals checks I have received where in Canadian funds so I'm assuming they don't have a US bank to draw on. Wells Fargo in WA state charges $5 dollars to cash a Canadian check.

Take about 50K out some afternoon and tell them what other bank you’re now doing business with and why.

I had the same problem and didn't want to switch banks for such a trivial thing so I arranged with Tammy (yes a while back) that she send Amazon gift cards. It worked out well and, no, I'm not a scammer.

That is very surprising, especially since it does not match my experience with Navy Federal at all. They have readily accepted the couple of Escape checks I presented without blinking an eye (or charging an extra fee). I would ask again; someone else this time.
Or maybe... something has changed in the past few months (on one side or the other).

No check
Really? I’ve shown my trailer about five times and have never received money. Does the person you show it to have to purchase a trailer?

Yes, and they have to tell ETI that you showed them your trailer.

My credit union charged $10 to process the one check I received (several years ago).

Hi: Ron in BC... We've shown our trailer so many times, and been sent so many potential buyers we've lost count; but don't stress the "Finders fee". Mention it once then move on to the finer points of the trailer. We do have a US$ account but never had an Escape cheque in US funds. If our financial institution refused to honour an Escape cheque... I'd pull all my business in a flash!!!
Sometimes its nice to be noticed at gas bars, parking lots, and in campgrounds. Alf

Don’t know if they are still available but Escape used to provide a business sized card with a line for the “ambassadors” name to insure that the prospective buyer would not forget the owners name at referral time.
We’ve received quite a few checks and half checks. My dad was Irish and my mom was Bohemie so I’m a half check. Or is that Czech?
One nice lady looked at our trailer at two annual rallies in a row. The next year she showed up with a new 19. She asked me if we had received a referral check and I confirmed that I had and that I sincerely appreciated it. She said she had looked at a 19 (we had showed her the 21). The person who had the 19 had stressed that the lady tell escape she bought because of the showing AND that only a same model trailer owner could get the referral fee. So don’t bother listing the 21 owners. This nice lady had done the opposite, being turned off by the “pressure”.
The noive of some people.
Anyway, it’s always a sweet surprise to get a referral check. I cash the check. I get small bills which I put in an envelope and take along on an outing. I use the money to pay camping fees where there’s an iron Ranger, a fee collection station or mobile ranger with a receipt book and a truckers wallet.
I always let those rangers know I belong to the park guy mafia and we have a “short” “can you top this” conversation. Well, “Short” might not be accurate, time flies.
Morel mushrooms are popping as far north as The Lincoln Highway in Ioway. Delectable, delicious, and decadent when browned in butter in a cast iron skillet.

Now they send an email saying someone wants to see the trailer. It has a link to a form that you fill in after showing the trailer.
