RV Insurance

I currently have Progressive (USAA) insurance. Went into sticker shock when I got my renewal notice.

So went shopping and same insurance through Good Sam is a little more than half the price of the Progressive Quote.

I have stated value and $250 deductibles on both quotes.

Anybody have/recommend the Good Sam product?

I too have Good Sam, their premiums are low.

I've never filed a claim, so as is usually the case it's hard to know if the product is really good until it's too late.

So only one person on this large, active site has thoughts or an impression either Good Sam or another RV insurance? Thanks to the one person who posted a reply.

I could give you the name/details of my Canadian insurance provider, but that is unlikely to be of assistance to you.

I have AARP Hartford Insurance for vehicles and Escape. The Escape cost $80/year in 2019 ($500 deductible) and this increased to $90-for the new Escape.

We have spent a lot of time in the Maritimes but yeah you're right your insurance info may not work for me.

Wow ... that's replacement value coverage? Guess I need to become a member of AARP. Joined briefly almost 20 years ago but got tired of being old so dropped it..

Congrats on the new rig. Our premium this year going to to $650 with progressive.

Our casita was flooded during hurricane Florence and was insured with progressive. In the end they were pretty fair with the claim.

I have no idea, one of my pet peeves these days is the way business is conducted on line and there is no paper trail, other than your payment. I do not think I ever received a hard copy of any insurance policy I have in effect! So I can not answer your question.

Noting that your original post only asked for comment on Good Sam experience, but now you're opening to others ....

My trailer is covered by State Farm as are my other vehicles, home, and umbrella liability. The rate seems reasonable, I re-shop every two years and have not found any other competitive for my total bundle of insurance (multi-line and other discounts come into play). They may or may not offer policies in your state.

I've not any claims history with the trailer, other claim experiences have been few but good.

I prefer all insurance with one surety to avoid overlap and inter/intra-policy complications, YMMV.

Happy Shopping!

Where you live, where you store the trailer, your claims history and even your credit rating will have an effect on your premium. Talk to your agent, and other agents for quotes. What others on this site pay is not relevant.

Me too but I live in Florida and My home insurer doesn't insure trailers... I live near water so not risking home insurance to save money on trailer..

State Farm has been fair with us on vehicle claims, and on a pretty fair sized home damage claim resulting from the derecho we had August 10, 2020. I have the vehicles, Escape, property, home and a liability policy all with State Farm.

Both of my car policy costs have gone down significantly when I signed up for the “good driver” program. I’m safe 94% of the time. The main transgression is my braking according to them on about three corners I turn regularly.
I took the Highlander in this week to have the original brakes checked. At 94,000 miles I still had between 40 and 50% of original pad thickness. So no expense there, I’m easy on brakes because I don’t drive into jams and I look way down the road to match the speed of the traffic, especially when I’m towing.

Insurance is a necessary evil as I see it and I’m happy to be able to buy it and drive at my age. Over 25% of my high school class of 560 people are no longer driving, cause they are dead. My tag line doesn’t lie.
