Scale weight for 17A

I had learned from ETI that the weight shown on the registration documents (2455 lbs) was a calculated weight rather than a scale weight, so after we took delivery of the trailer in Sumas, we took it to a commercial scale just west of town. The result:
Gross weight: 2720 lbs
Tongue weight: 280 lbs
We had not yet loaded any personal belongings into the trailer. The propane tanks were full, so I subtracted 40 lbs from the weight showing on the scale (2760 lbs). The fresh water tank was empty.
The trailer is pretty basic; no a/c, no water heater, no extra insulation. It does have the front bin, solar panel, kitchen window, dual 6 volt batteries.

Your tongue weight to trailer weight is about right on a basically empty trailer. Shouldn’t be too hard to keep the ratio as you load up but you will want to check on it. The tongue weight scale or even a bathroom scale will
help you do this. To weigh the trailer you may be able to get this done for free at grain elevators, quarries, landfills or other scales in your area that are privately owned.
