I find the 17 great for one but when I get close to retirement I might get a bigger one either a 19 or the 5.0 I tow a goose neck horse trailer and I really like towing better with a fifth wheel. But I like the 19 floor plan really depends on what I want to tow with when I retire. I'm sure it will all get clearer as I do more camping and decide what I like.

In looking at all of the trailers that Escape had to offer, the 5.0TA was never seriously in the running because I hate to give up all of the room in the pickup box. Plus I kind of splurged on a really nice tonneau cover to top it off. Loren

Heck, I remember when bumping into each other was fun

As the owner of an Escape 21 I have no desire to get a 5.0; I'm quite happy with what I have. I was drawn to the Escape trailers by the 5.0, but I realized that I didn't want to give up the space in the pickup box. I'm quite happy with my decision.
As for towability, earlier today I inadvertently took California Route 4 over the Sierra Nevada mountains, going through two 8000' passes and a 25% grade (yes, really). I had no problems towing the trailer over this road, although I definitely won't go back that way (nosiree!). As for ease of hitching up, with a backup camera it is very easy to hitch up a conventional trailer, even without a spouse.

I think the decision to change trailers has to do with layout. Bigger bathroom? Larger kitchen counter? More storage? etc., etc. I've owned Ten Forward 14 months yesterday. ZERO regrets. Of course I gained 7 more FEET in length when I went from a Scamp 16' to an Escape 5.0TA. SWOON. And, I no longer need to carry totes!!

I came over this way to visit friends for a day or two, but I need to start heading home. It's a long trip home, but I need to get going.
I've discovered that I could live in my trailer indefinitely-- I seem to have no desire to live in a larger space, and I don't get homesick.

We are hosed then when we get the 21'...we found little need to go home after 3 weeks in Florida and Hilton Head even in the teeny-tiny Casita. Well, other than we were broke. That seems to spoil all our fun!

Thanks!
I really like my 19, it seems perfect size for 1 to 2 people and a dog! I too have wondered how many go from 19 to 21 to 5.0 ta. Right now I can't see doing it, but everyone has different reasons...

No, I don't have one. I was just wondering if it might help Jim N some.
With my Pilot, I do use the Anderson WDH with it. I didn't for the first 4 years, but added it for a bit more stability so my wife would be more comfortable towing. It did what I expected, and made the two units handle more as one with it on, and softened some of the bumps out too. I would recommend it.

Let's see, a power dolly to maneuver or a new shorter 5.0. You are talking to the guy who bought a new truck in lieu of getting a $500 tune up, let's see which way do I want to go.....

Sounds like you are talking yourself into a 5.0. You know you don't need excuses, just do it if you want to.

Stop the presses! Could this be the end of BlackJack? Inquiring minds want to know...

Clarity comes into sharp focus for me mentally, after seeing my doctor. Doctor Al K. Hall that is. Course I gotta write it down at the time or I forget by morning and have to start over. Like I always tell my kids, "it's only money, you can make more.

For the most part, the only time my wife, Grandson and I are in the trailer together is when we're either asleep or (heaven forbid) sick! And that happened. Yikes!!! I do doubt that an extra 2 feet of aisle would have made the experience any less 'uncomfortable'.
Out trailer 'world' is out doors, I guess because, we're summer, early fall, and late spring campers only.
The size of ones camper, as well as the additions is relative to ones camping style.

I think you've hit the nail square on the head about size, additions, and camping style.
And I would say my answer to the OP's question of why is simply because I can or I want to.

A 21 Foot or 5.0TA is 4 inches (10 cm) wider than a 19 Foot; the 19 Foot is 4 inches (10 cm) wider than all the smaller models (currently 17 Ft, but also the discontinued 15 Ft, 13 Ft, and original 5.0).

Also keep in mind that the bathroom in a 5.0 TA is in the middle of the trailer which takes up additional aisle space compared to the bathroom in a 21 that is up in the corner.
