Shipment of 5.0TA trailer from ETI

Finally decided to have trailer shipped to us and it leaves ETI today. I’m curious about the trailer shipment. How do they do it? I assume there are a coupler trailers on the trailer. How do them get them off (or on for that matter) the trailer? Is the fifth wheel supported by a dolly? Winched off? What do I need to be prepared to do to tow it away after they take it off the trailer. Jim

I had to use my truck to unload my trailer on delivery, but that was a long time ago. It meant I needed to have the hitch installed prior to delivery.

Escape would be the best source of info on this as I'm sure their shippers have changed. They normally can carry at least 2 trailers, possibly 3 on the truck and flatbed trailer. Sometimes the last one is towed. The truck bed tilts and he has a winch to unroll the unit. With a fifth wheel it is probably on reversed. He will give you his cell phone and keep in touch over the trip, Depending on stops you may be first or last. I have had 2 delivered, a E19 and E21. Give the driver at least a $20 tip for a good meal, he has been eating truck stop food.

Best to contact ETI to make sure you are ready...if your truck is required.

Received trailer last Thursday. Was on semi flatbed. They hired local tow truck ... the flatbed style ... and backed up to end of flatbed. He matched the level and using his winch pulled it on to trailer. Lashed it down to tow truck Then pulled away. Parked, tilted ramp down and winched to ground. Great process. Unfortunately it was pouring down rain while I had to install Andersen collar on trailer. All went fine and it is home, loaded with stuff from last trailer and at storage lot for now. Sorry about quality of offload pics. Rain does that.

Is this hard to do? We are going to have to do that... wondering if we need to send it to ETI to have on before delivery. We've watched video but still concerned. Would hate to have problems at delivery. Did you already have one of these hitches? We've got to add that to our truck too.

Nothing hard about it ... just sucked doing it in the pouring rain. We love the Andersen hitch. Many people get hitch while in BC but with limitations on travel that was not an option for us. So we had NC dealer install. We opted for the gooseneck version of the hitch but many use rail version which takes up slightly less room in bed and is less expensive. Six of one ........ yada. We ordered Andersen piece off amazon. Ez as pie to install in bed. Pin connector also easy with four set screws to torque and two side bolts to tighten. We are currently on first trip with trailer and loves the way it tows. Install is piece of cake so don’t be concerned.

Same experience here! Love it. This design is absolutely the best to tow. Have fun guys!
