Spring ahead

Some are awaiting their first Escape but for me every spring is like a fresh hatch. I spent the afternoon hooking up to city water, filling the water tank, ensuring the hot water tank is full, pulling stuff out of cupboards, tossing half out and re-organizing the rest, and then making lists of what is where.

I was pleased to discover no leaks in the plumbing. I used compressed air to blow out the lines last fall but was surprised to hear the hiss of air being released when I opened the hot water relief valve. I guess there's no leak in that system.

Forecast is for sun and temps about 15C. so I'll be washing and waxing this weekend. Then Toad will go in for a brake adjustment and wheel bearings and we'll be set for a mid-April excursion to Vancouver Island where it will pour rain and storm and we will watch movies on my 7" DVD player, snuggling in our warm little nest.

Re: Spring ahead

Well, washing AND waxing was bit ambitious. I did manage to wash Toad, using a Simoniz product that includes wax.

Toad spent the winter under the cedar tree in what used to be a carport and is now a driveway. So I spent an hour and a half washing the roof. I then spent another hour and a half washing the sides. My Simoniz car-wash brush exploded right at the beginning of the exercise, as soon as I turned on the water, shooting the brush head into the bushes on the far side of the trailer ( it's now being epoxied back together in the living room ). That left me using a dish-washing brush, which was great for getting into the nooks and crannies, but slowed me down some.

All that work got me to thinking. Maybe I should invest in a trailer cover. But, I have to ask.

How do you guys protect your trailer cover

Re: Spring ahead

I am curious to see how my trailer made out over the winter. I have done nothing since picking it up in early May about buffing it, it has just seen a couple washings is all, and not even real thorough ones. I have to bring it home to use Easter weekend. It is just 10 minutes away being stored beside a garage I rent.

I had thought of getting a cover, but never got around to it.

Re: Spring ahead

Alf, it looks about the size of what a friend wants me to build. He called me and asked if we could build him a shed. I reluctantly agreed to look at what he wanted. When I got there, he said the shed he wanted was to be about 3,600 sf. Now that's a shed.

Re: Spring ahead

Hi: All...Happy Easter...Spring is the season of promise. The trees and plants are reborn and the earth warms to new growth. My allergies are in full bloom too!!!
The trailer fared well over the "Fibernation" period. I turned on the kill switch and a light...WOW lots of power to raise the landing gear for hooking up. The trailer was not plugged in since last Oct!!! I had just enough time to rinse off the redish brown dirt from my bro-in-laws farm before the April Showers started. Alf
